Finals week and training

Fuck i hate finals!!!! I know a lot of you are in the same boat as me, finals papers, stressing out about everything. I even switched my routine to go around it and its driving me nuts!!! Its almost like all i care about now is the gym, and anything that gets in the way of my workout/eating schedule (like the snow that just got dumped on the east coast) can go to hell. Anyone else just totally lost interest in school work due to working out? I know this is bad but it just seems like im always preoccupied with when im eating, sleeping, and my normal gym times. Anyone else feel this way or have any advice?

Definately...

You do know that education is probably your primary concern now...you will of course need money for food and a gym later on in life ;).

I have this problem too, perhaps planning a daily schedule for the time being would be of some aid?

It's all about time management...but of course, a tight schedule can't always be avoided...

...Oh yeah, don't stress out :P your cortisol will start breaking down your gains :).

I still workout before I study, but I arrange it so that I workout mid afternoon and study into the wee hours of the morning

i have two weeks straight of finals. i will only be able to hit the gym like once, and even that's pushing it. it definitely sucks =(

i'm skipping the gym this week in favor of finals. between picking up my kids from school/daycare and my final schedule, and studying, it's just not even a remote possibility to get in gym time, cept for maybe wednesday after my last final. i could hit the gym after tuesday's final, but made plans to get together with someone to review for wednesday's final, which is gonig to completely kick my ass if i'm not ready for it.

and then....doc appointment thursday which might stop me from training for a few weeks. if not, then saturday i'm going to my dad's to pick up a weight bench and weights so i can continue to train at home over xmas break.

i can't wait for xmas break. my first semester back in school in 7 years and i'm so damn burnt out, but doing pretty good. and speaking of finals....i gotta end this study break and get back to studying.

Good luck to you guys on your finals! put the education first, training second. Red Dragon put it right...you're going to need money later on in life for food and for the gym.

My dad also put it in perspective for me too. he said "you have the rest of your life to build yourself up in the gym, but you've only got 4 years of school (barring graduate work), so make it count!"

I dunno about all of you....but for me...the BEST stress relief next to getting laid is going to the gym :-). And since I'm certainly not getting laid anytime soon....I might as well make use of that testosterone someplace else. The funny thing is.....being that exercising is such a proven stress reliever...you'd kind of figure that the gym would be PACKED during finals week...instead....its quite the opposite. Anyone else see this in their colleges gym?

true... i was the only person in the freeweights area at the usual peaktime over the weekend. felt sorta weird not to have to wait for benches!

I was reading these posts and my roomate/ lifting partner JUSt called me adn told me "... aaand the gym is closed"
WTF!!!!!
This sucks... The finals aren't bad tho this year, i was lookin forward to really hitting the gym really really heard before goin home... I guess im gonna hav to go use the girlie gym upstairs
DAAAMNIT!

Finals Do SUCK!

my university sucks and doesnt even have a free weight gym for students, so everyone goes to this place around the corner, its been empty the last few days, and its usually packed

MattRecc - your university sucks! i'd hate to have to pay membership at a "real" gym. yeah, you can get a lot better instruction and there's a lot more equipment, it definetly has it's benefits, and i'm not arguing that. but it's also expensive. memberships at the gym out in town are i believe $40/mo. that's more than i wanna spend. however, i'm paying $79/semester for the Rec. Center and it's got everything i need. and that fee is paid whether i use the place or not, i can't argue against it if i don't want to use it. i guess it kinda balances out, but the money hasn't come out of my own pocket to pay for it....YET...Pell Grant covered almost my entire tuition and all my fees were covered by a student loan, so i didn't have to pay outright. and by the time i have to start paying back the student loans, i should be making enough $$$ that i can afford the higher costs of memberships to a regular gym. :)

Heres some advice, your training and eating are not going to land you a job. School is way to important to compromise for your lifting. Put your training on the shelf for a few weeks and hit the books, in the long run you school will prove way more important!

school is definitely more important, i just get absolutely no joy out of wasting 30 grand a year to do things i dont want to do. I've always gotten good grades and it doesnt matter if i go to class or not, they still stay at least decent, i just feel that school is wasting my time

ah, my finals are now over. doc appointment tomorrow. if all goes well, i'll be lifting again by monday. i think the week off was well deserved.

my willpower over my eating has been pretty good all semester, and was just improving the past few weeks with a real bulking diet. but these past few days, not being the gym is making me lose focus when it comes to food.
