fina precontest

Do I need to get off of the fina a week before my contest or can I take it all the way up to the show? - cbeaks

I took it all the way up to my show along with winny and won the overall. (Nat'l Qualifier) I was holding a small amount of water but when i cut water to a half gallon on thurs and took 2 diazide (diuretic) and kept water around 3/4 to 1 gallon on friday, I came in Hard as nails Sat morning.

What day did you take the diazide on? My last contest I used 20mg of Lasix on thursday night and another 20mg on friday night and took a few diazide throughout the day on Saturday after the morning show. I was dry as a bone but could have been more vascular. Many people on the board think that Lasix will make you flat but I won the show. I don't know if I should do the same thing this year or just use the diazide. - cbeaks

i would gradually cut down my water intake.

from a gallon, to half a gallon, to a few sips with meals, to no water at all up till the day of the show.

thats what ive always heard and what ive seen people do. i could be wrong...

i wouldnt be drinking a half a gallon of water the day before the show.

I wouldnt take Lasix. It can make you flat. If you take diazide DO NOT CUT WATER. I cut water to 1/2 gallon on thursday but didnt take a diuretic and on friday i took 1 at around 8am and 1 around 6 pm but did not cut water. It dosent work like lasix. On diazide you have to keep drinking or you will cramp up severely and possibly end up holding water. It has about a 12 hour life span so on sat morning either take another or dont take one a just sip water up til prejudging. Hope this helps.
