I've made Fina using just about every different set of instructions out there, and here's what I found worked best...and also took the least amount of time:
* I always use a 4G kit with one Component-th belt and one fina cartridge.
1. Dump pellets into a bowl and crush them until you have a fine powder.
2. Add the crushed pellets to the secret solution and shake it up for about 15 minutes.
3. Draw up 8cc of the sesame oil and simply add it to the final sterile vial...no need to filter this.
4. Take the rubber stopper off of the vial with the secret solution and added fina pellets. Also remove the rubber stopper from the vial with the remaining sesame oil. Slowly pour your secret solution into the vial with the sesame oil. ***Very important to shake this new combo vigorously until it all appears to flow evenly together.
5. This is the step where I DO use the coffee filter. I take the filter, put it over a sterile cup, and rubber-band it to the top. Now pour the new combined mixture into the filter. It will slowly filter out the good stuff and leave the "crap" sitting behind in the filter. Let this sit and filter for about 90 minutes...no point to really let it sit much longer than that.
6. Take the coffee filter off of the cup and very gently wring it out into the cup to get those extra drops of the clean fina. Call me a fiend if you want, but doing this has got me an extra 2 cc's in the past. **Be extremely careful when you are wringing the filter out not to get any of the junk in the cup.
7. Use your 12cc syringe and begin to draw up the solution from your cup. After you have drawn up your first 12 cc's, take the needle off your syringe and then spin on your filter. Now put the needle back on the filter and begin adding this to your final vial. (Remember your final vial will already have the 8 cc's of oil your originally put in there)
8. Repeat step 7 until you have drawn up all of the oil from the cup and filtered in into your final vial.
That's it! Follow those 8 steps to a tee, and if use are using a 4G kit you will have approximately 45-48 cc's of Fina. My final product is always a clean, piss-colored yellow...this is the norm.
This process takes a little over two hours. I have cooked it in the past but found this to be unnecessary...it can also weaken your batch.
