Have any of you ever bypassed using a lawyer to file the beginning paperwork in the courts?

There's a website where they show you all that stuff you can do yourself. I forget the name, very popular site about do-it-yourself lawyers and stuff.

You can go directly to Support Enforcement. Are you trying to get CS? How long has it been since you've recieved any?

I worked for support enforcement years ago, not sure how it is in your state but you have to go without recieving for 60 days straight before the state will take your case. If they even make a partial payment in those 60 days you can't file.

I'd contact an atty and see costs etc.. I'd go with an atty before i'd deal with the state.

You might want to make sure all of your bases are covered when filing the paperwork on your own.

For example, let's say you are fighting for old payments. You can put a lien on their property or assets. Papers were served to the court and the copy given to a relative of mine, I noticed something wasn't attached to these papers (this occured in NY), that would've have been there had the person used an attorney. To protect the wife & children of this relative and the assets they put together as a married couple everything was transferred to the wife & children within 24-48 hours.

Investigations, done after the papers were served, turned up nothing. Basically, all he had was his check and he owned nothing (his affair, his issue) by the time he was in front of a judge.

Thanks. No, in my case I have to file modification papers. As it is now, The decree states that the child lives with both of us half the time and there is no child support. She has chosen to live with me and has been here for 4 months straight. I just have to file modification papers and for child support along with that.

THis is what I need. I just talked to my friend that works in the family courts. She said you can get the forms on the internet. She's not sure what site though.
