I am a personal trainer...just started recently.

Today, I received a client who has this disease...she wants to lose fat and build muscle. Any tips on training her, and/or things I should know abou the disease that would effect her training or that I should alter to train her more efficiently?

Everything that I've read so far suggests aerobic activity...so should I be keeping her away from weights all together???Even if extremely light???

I to help someone with this problem. Ive consulted with her doctors and basicly was told to train her as a normal client the only differance being incressing the weight a little slower and no high impact cardio.

I had a client with this once. I felt really bad because almost all exercise involving resistance caused him extreme pain, but his doc said its something he has to work through and even though it hurt like hell it was causing no damage. Ive come to understand that poeple with this disiese need a much higher mental drive than normal gym goers to get through the pain.

Thanks so much for your help guys! Hearing your experiences is definitely appreciated :)

I took her through a circuit of excercises using lighter weights, less machines (more free weights), manual resistance excercises, etc. I am also making sure to inlclude lots of stretching post work-out. My client is awesome...she is a very strong willed woman who is there to WORK IT OUT. :) She's getting married soon, and wants to be strong and healthy as well as look hot in her wedding dress.
Once again, I appreciate your advice and experience.
