Anyone ever do Lobster via FedEx?

I need to order a raging pile of 1.5-2.5 pounders for party next week...

Real lobster only exists in two places in the world: cold water east coast US (Humaris Americanus) and the cold water coast of Brittany (Humarus Vulgaris), the rest are either rock lobsters/salt water crayfish or langoustines. All of which are great, but Maine/Breton lobster holds my heart in a long way.

When I was kid we had a place on Dune Road, and Joe (from Joe's @ shinecock) and Nick (from Tully's) would hook us up with when they were sheduled to come in. My dad would be waiting at the docks when the offloaded and we would have a pot of seawater already boiling for both the lobs and steamers.

I used to clam for a summer job when I was too young for the restaurant and my dad would be splitting little necks as we husked the corn...

Now we do it via Guido's but there lobs are not always the freshest of the fresh... soooo... anybody? great overnight lobs?

Why do all white people eat lobster?

Has to do with being able to swim, I suppose....

:chomp:

I saw a show about a week ago on some people in the lobster business. Beautiful land... they shipped them out fresh via overnight or 2 day... You could order any size and (I believe) quality you want and it would arrive at your doorstep WITH bibs. lol What a business they have there.

They took orders off a website as well as call ins.

that was 30 years ago...

fresh water and sea salt will do. Just season the water until it is salty like the sea.

Some steam, some boil, some grill, some roast.... i suggest at LEAST doing all of the above... ;)

Can I Fed-Ex myself to your party.
Fed-Ex guy hasn't come yet - I could be there in less than 48 hours.

I saw this too. Their prices are actually not bad. They are a company in Canada. I do believe, they only shipped to North America.

I'll find the website for you if you want it.

Jasper White is the man. Last time I saw him he basicly said "-----, leave me the fuck alone already, will ya!"

I have stolen more of his food than anyone in history, lol

Y, you ever use Plusgras Butters? good stuff.

I have a buddy that used to own a place in NY called Gourmet Garage, not even sure if they still exist, been a while... anyway, he turned me on to 'cultured' butters: its a hard thing to define, they are either like cheese that is so high in fat that they are butter or butter that has specific renet/cultures added and treated like soft cheese...

Fantastic? ohhhh yesssss.....

I once took a huge box on United Airlines as a carry-on. The last place you want to "lose your luggage of lobster" is at O' Hare Airport.

We just had 2 to 3 pound monsters last week. $3 a pound

SUCKERS!

hA...I can catch them in the tidal pool every morning as they get trapped when the tide rolls out.

fuk buying sea salt, I want the authentic frothy sea water...Chef, you think you can fedex me a bucket of your frothiest Iceland water?

Chef- You wouldn't be getting inland on your US tour would you?

Also the only way I have ever liked lobster is fried rock lobster. For some reason I have never liked lobster, though I do some fierce damage to snowcrabs.

Cheers,
Scotsman

Frothy?

The water here is pretty clear, but if you act right now: 150ml of free Man-Plankton will be added with your first order. Call now, our operators are waiting.

Lobster fest was a smash: 17 three pounders, clam chowder, mussels and steamers, grilled fingerling potatoes with lots of garlic confit and parsely, grilled sweet corn with chipotle butter, kiddie pools of melted butter (yes Velvet, I was thinking of you) Gewurtz and beers out the wazzoo in a huge galvanized tub of ice.

Rented two candy stoves to get the big steam pots going, cracked the jackets on the talegate of my brothers pickup: backed it right up to the patio, hilarious! Me in a rain parka with silicone gloves and a wooden mallet pulling the red ones out of the steam with one hand, crack and snip with the other.

Good times.

my friend used to fed-ex lobsters to himself at the dorm room (this kids parents were loaded, obviously), and they used to come in a box with a styrofoam cooler packed with the live lobsters, dry ice, and a bunch of seasoning, butter, bibs, etc. we would then bring them down to the dorm kitchen, and cook them ourselves. they were fantastic.

i'm not sure what they cost, but it didn't really matter to him since mommy and daddy were footing the bill. he would do this twice a month, on average.

It could only have been better Chefy to have cooked them in a natural hot spring,
seasoned by a dozen nude hot women sitting in the water..

By the way, and I shit you not, we used Land-o-Lakes repleat with hot native hussy and I was thinking 'If Y could see me now he would be laughing his ass off."

Funny how less than 2 centurys are lobsters were considered slave food, not fit to be eaten by the white folk.
