I think im finally falling victim to overtraining. Ive lifted for awhile..but really hardcore for the last year straight. Im talking sets upon sets of heavy ass weights..and ive really grown, im on my 4th week of a dbol/test cycle...and although i am stronger and libido is up, i find myself dragging ass in the gym, my squat and deadlift are both suffering, and Ive found myself calling it quits after just 6-8 sets.

My question is...should i just work through it till im done with this 10 week cycle, or afford 10-14 days off now so I can finish with a bang..im lifting 5 times a week minimum and really falling apart.

take couple days off bro

also, your estrogen might be high causing this, are you using an AI?

Take a few days off before your next workout, and from there on i'd deload all the weights (something like 80% of max or so, depending maybe less). And train 3-4 days a week for a while.

Gear can not make your CNS recover faster. Over training will happen no matter the drugs if you're going all out.

Make sure you're getting plenty of good food in, ect too.

yeah using AIFM, and thanks for that advice...maybe instead of the week vacation ill just do high rep low weight shit for a couple weeks and only do a push/pull/leg day...

if your "ON" u can sill burn out your CNS -which u most likely did.....

go light or take off.....ur on, it shouldnt take no longer then a week (5 days) to heal up your CNS with good diet and rest.

SLEEP is your answer, if you take off and still are not sleeping your not growing....

i was overtrained after my competition for 2 weeks, i pulled 520 at the meet, but couldnt tripple 400 lol...now im back, i took off that whole week....

sometimes our bodies need rest. Listen to it man, trust me ....

make sure your nutritonal needs are being hit...

i always said no such thing as overtraining, only undereating....and it worked up to a point so eat eat eat too

sleep is whats killin mwe..im lucky to get 4-6 hours of interrupted sleep a night =(

No it is not - it is CNS burnout bro. 8 hrs of sleep a night w. 5 days a week of training for a year w/ no real breaks is CNS burnout fo sho.

Yeah, now with more info, about your crappy sleep habits lol its definitely a CNS burnout, no biggie, get some damn sleep bro!!

your probably not getting into the right sleep stage for growth, because ur up alot.

pick up some

verarian root, gabba, etc for sleep aids...

i have also found that milk prebed helps me sleep better, it contains the same stuff that is in turkey that makes u sleepy

lack of sleep is more likely a symptom than a cause.. when in a heavily overtrained state it's actually harder to get a good nights sleep which is ironic because that's what you need the most. I get the same way and try to make up with naps which only makes things worse

are you using stims, EC or similar?

take a week off to deload. If you never back off, you'll never build up momentum

Ive really stopped using stims, way less coffee too....i work till midnight..them get up with the kids to get them ready for school at 620a..i could pop some sleep aids..but i cant oversleep and not get teh kids rdy for school. Usually one day a week i crash and sleep almost the whole day to recharge.

Tough situation to try and fit all the sleep you need.

THOUGH, if you cut back amount of days you trained you could sleep more on those days possibly?

While still fitting in all the lifts you need and progressing at them. Thereby getting stronger and bigger.

I used to burnout sometimes too bro. I used to overtrain and basically get sick and then shit the bed and be out for weeks. I guess my advice would be to go hard for a few weeks then take a week or a few days off and just relax and mainly sleep if you can. Then get back on and hit em hard again because if you don't you will end up being out for weeks upon weeks when you burnout and start losing what you gain.

WOW

It's a figure of speech, Al. LoL

Sleep is the miracle cure.

The idea of taking regular breaks is a good one. You can plan them out or if you're smart enough about your training, you can feel when you're nearing the edge and then just back off for a week or two, intuitively. I'm sure you're eager to lift, but what's the worst that could happen if you take a down week? Recharge your batteries and come back ready to push beyond your old limits.

Also, some of this is created by the way you structure your training. You might evaluate your overall training plan. Are you doing 5 hard heavy days a week? Maybe one or two could become light, easy days, where you hit smaller bodyparts or something. I'm not sure how AAS factors into all this though.

Proto, i think the AAS factor is, alot of people, (including me as well), at first always hear people saying, "oh hes on juice he can heal quicker"....i did not know u can still burn the CNS out, untill i was told by some smart bros here...

i think thats why he mentioned the AAS

i mentioned the aas because i feel like if im not lifting while on cycle then im wasting it, or if i could get by until im off cycle to rest..

but the more i read teh responses...im just going to take 4 days off of training period..then only do hard and heavy on my lagging parts..and take it easy on my good lifts for another week..try to sleep as much as i can (thank god kids on winter break) and come back first of the year ready to wreck some shit..thanks bros..

Sounds like a good plan.

IMO, you should just go easy on everything. An extra week of hard work on your weak lifts won't do you any good (on those lifts or in general) if it taxes your CNS and hampers your recovery.

+1 karma to ya :)

that's the thing its catch 22, pushing too hard, makes for crappy restless sleep, which makes you recover badly, and around you go. So don't over do it in the first place

Have you tried the 5x5 program?

That would give you a great chance to build up to your max's over a 4 week period.

Should give you a good chance to recover
