FAIRFIELD University

Being the Skywalker includes the opportunity to travel to many Universities around this great nation.

Whenever I do this, I compile some statistics about the universities that I think our elite brethren would find interesting, particularly because there are so many college students among us.

Today's school: Fairfield University, Fairfield CT.

This school is very preppy and New England-ish. The student body is almost exclusively white, and with a tuition of around $30K/yr, the students are generally well off.

The off campus scene sucks. The few bars I went to were lackluster, and it didn't help that everyone there looked as if they were dressed directly out of the A&F catalog. The beach parties are the lame stuff that high school parties should be.

The women are generally attractive, but there aren't too many of them, and the environment is very cliquish. There are a good number of overweight girls interspersed with the crowd too. And they are all generally stuck on themselves, without good reason.

If you were at the SeaGrape (off campus bar) on graduation night like I was, you probably saw a bunch of idiots throwing beer around and acting like jackasses. Kind of sad - for those kids it was the peak of their lives.

Women = 6 (Wake Forest 10)

Partying = 3 (LSU =10)

Campus architecture = 5 (Princeton =10)

Student friendliness = 4 (LSU 10)

Pretentiousness = 9 (Amherst 10)

Overall - disappointing

sounds like a very bad time. Hope you weren't there for too long. I challenge the party scene of LSU and compare it to Texas A&M having partied at both, A&M has the nod over LSU.

LSU was alot of fun since I got to party with athletes during my visits there.

Interesting, I always had a better time at UT than visiting A&M, perhaps things have changed since the time I was in school.

Yeah Austin is alot of fun, but I lived in Bryan last year and every party I went to around A&M was a blast. It's not the clubsy type parties but rather at people's homes, and apartments. I consider it more of a quality party then anything else. People were very friendly to me, and the women were probably the biggest in the closest whores I have met to this day.

I had more chances to talk and get to know people on a more personal level then I have around Austin. San Marcos in some ways like bryan/CS in that respect, but the town is anti college students so most people go up to Austin or down to San Antonio to party at the clubs and bars.

isn't Wake Forrest in the Carolinas? I think North. I could be wrong. I'm wrong a lot.

TxCollegeGuy,

the Skywalker has visited many campuses.

A&M was a good time...I actually know about 10 guys who went there....

Thre parties at A&M are great because they aren't too clubby - this is likewise true of LSU...Florida State is losing my respect as a party school because it is getting too clubby and poser-intensive.

LSU has things going on that make it a cut above everything I have seen...particularly a student body comprised largely of Louisiana women, who, for some reason, are powerless to resist anything I say to them.....

Where's my Fairfield people?

anybody (skywalker?) remember joey desantis? that's who i think of when the name "fairfield" comes up.

I gotta give it up for my school: Miami University in Ohio...if none of you know it, its the school where Wally Szerbiak (a few years ago) took to the sweet sixteen in the NCAA's tourney. He plays for the Minnesota T'wolves now...anyways the greek scene is fat (70% in a house or sorority), the bar scene is fat, and the girls are absolutely beautiful (I would confidently say that 90% of the girls would be labeled as hot anywhere in the country)..

Some of you midwest people should check it out

Yeah runner, during his two years of stardom at Miami the girls loved him (and probably some of the gay dudes on campus)...he would be invited to EVERY party just cuz people knew girls would flock to just be in the same room with him.

It was funny cuz every time he'd walk into class (during the NCAA tourney) the whole class including professor would give him a standing Ovation..it was hilarious to watch people go up to him in the club or bar or party and ask for an autograph. I about tripped out one day when I had a class with him and one of my best friends who also started on that same team, and the professor was handing out blue books (if you dont know, those essay books you have to write in for essay tests) and then asked wally if he could keep his blue book cuz you have to sign it on the front of it..i was like, "whoa"

but yeah I'm a huge fan of his, cuz i've hung out with him a few times and he was really really cool. Cocky (like me) but very cool...

But I dont think he's gay (His girlfriend of all four years at miami was a fitness model--now she's his wife)

i know he's not gay...but i hafta' admit i have a shirtless picture on my computer at home of him in a driveway holding a ball in one hand. nice bod, nice abs.

LOL i think my little sister (who also attends Miami) has that same picture...

Nice to see another Wally fan on the board...he's definitely one of the most underrated players in the league. He's solid every night. He can shoot, dribble, play defense (just ask Scottie Pippen), and he will definitely give you a solid 15-18 everynight. He wont make an all star team--yet---but I enjoy watchin him play on TNT whenever they are on.

Too bad Kevin Garnett hates him. They've been in two reported fist fights in practice. I read somewhere that Wally was quoted as saying he wasnt afraid of Kevin and that he wont let anybody disrepect him regardles of his superstar status. Dont got to like Wally, but gotta respect him for that.

what i like about wally as a player is that he doesn't try to do too much, doesn't need to be the superstar. check out his shooting percentages...quite impressive for a guy who plays on the perimeter.

Wally is a Long Islander. He's pretty good friends with my younger brother...they were two years apart but played in all the same tournaments....they know each other pretty well.

His dad played pro ball in Spain, and is chiefly responsible for sticking him with the name Walter. Anyway I've played with him a bunch of times...and he's a pretty good guy all things considered.

now on to this madness about Miami, Ohio being such a great place to party....let's just say that among schools that include "Miami" in their name, it's a distant second.

Is Fairfield in the house?

OH no doubt Mattskywalker,

Miami is just a great place to party considering its in the midwest...florida is a whole nother world..i totally realize that :)

Amherst sucks! I went to Williams. they wouldn't even exist if it weren't for us. bithces.

my friend's brother is at umass there and he said that in the winter large groups will get together and get drunk and go wipe out amherst in a snowball fight until the police come. sounds good to me.

and the smith girls are scary :)

Champ,

I've been to UMass....a while ago but I have been several times...much fun.

happy....I know a girl that went to Smith (as I am sure you know a few) and talk about some women with issues.....

It's like: you visit an all girls school, and you figure you'll hook up....and then you listen to these girls talk, and it's like "I'm out of here".

Where's Fairfield on this?

I would put A&M up against any university for friendliness...walk anywhere in College Station, and say "Howdy," and see what happens, LOL!:D
