Fad diet

I got this from a friend of mine I work with, he used this to drop 60lbs a couple of years ago. Took him about 6-7 mo. So I know it works. Supposedly it originated from a hospital. I wouldn't suggest it or anything and I know this is def not for bb but just though I would share it for some one desperate to drop a lot of fat quick and for the experts to pick apart. The diet follows:

Protein Diet

Breakfast
½ Grapefruit or grapefruit juice
2 Eggs (any style)
2 Slices of bacon

Lunch
½ Grapefruit or grapefruit juice
Salad with any dressing
Meat (any style and any amount)

Dinner
½ Grapefruit or grapefruit juice
Meat (any style and any amount)
Vegetable (any green or red, cooked in butter)

Before Bed
Tomato juice or skim milk

Directions:
· No snacking between meals.
· At any meal eat until full.
· Don’t skip bacon at breakfast or omit salads. It is the combination of foods that burn fat.
· The grapefruit is important because it works as a catalyst that starts the burning process.
· Cut down on coffee. It hinders the insulin process that starts the burning process. Limit 3 cups per day.
· Don’t eat between meals. If you eat the combination of foods, you will not get hungry.
· Don’t eat disserts, breads, white vegetables or sweet potatoes. You may double or triple helpings of meat, vegetables and salads.
· Eat as much as you want. The more you eat of the proper combination of foods, the more you will loose.

Notes:
· This diet completely eliminates sugars and starches.
· Fat does not form from fat. It helps burn fat so you can burn butters.
· You can loose 10 pounds in 10 days. There will be no loss the first 4 days, but you will loose 5 pounds on the 5th day. Thereafter you will loose 1 ½ pounds every 2 days until you reach your desired weight.
· All soft drinks should be diet and caffeine free.
· You may not have white onions, potatoes or celery.
· You may have red onions, broccoli, beets, tomatoes, bell pepper, green onions, cabbage, spinach or carrots.

Important: Stay on diet for 12 days, then stop for 2 days. This diet is given to heart patients who need to loose weight fast.

lol.......

"MEAT, ANY AMOUNT".......

So, u mean to tell me if I eat 5,000 kcals of fatty ass Rib-Eye steaks 3 times per day to total 15,000 kcals, along with all the other food, I'll lose weight?

Please, don't answer. It's a rhetorical question. I know nutrition inside and out, and this example is SEVERELY flawed. Those new to dieting, looking for a program, should NOT follow this advice. There is a principal that this diet barely touches on, but it's FAR MORE intricate than that, and never will u see "ANY AMOUNT" listed in any fat loss diet.

Except maybe for water!!!

Penalty, diet foul!!

Well, the portions are within reason I assume. It's a great diet for people just starting out I guess. And obese people. The whole "eat as much as you want" should be cut out, and the diet is just a basic diet.

But all in all it's not great, and far from perfect. But it could be effective nonetheless.

So much misinformation that its laughable.

The whole grapefruit burning bodyfat thing is an old myth and utter crap. People used to believe eating grapefruit would eat fat away.

and its not a protein diet, theres plenty of fruit (carbs) and fat in the diet as well. A protein diet would be a protein sparing modified fast of all protein drinks and lean meats.

No snacking between meals as a rule is bullshit. Although I believe that less meals can be eaten w/ equal results, stating it as an outright rule is just wrong.

A combination of bacon and salad burns fat, how the hell is that so?? Bacon is terrible for you regardless of diet (keto, etc) b/c almost all brands have nitrates which cause cancer, and tons of saturated fat (some is beneficial but bacon is not quality food).

Coffee hinders the insulin process that starts the fat burning process, bullshit. Read any biochemistry book, even tiny amounts of insulin halt fat burning, not stimulate it. The effect is overstated as one can lose fat w/ chronically high insulin, but insulin does not stimulate a fat burning response. Insulin inhibits lipolysis and promotes lipogenesis.

Double or triple portions, the more you eat the more you lose???!!!!OMG whoever wrote this is a fucktard. It's an absolute physiological fact that one must limit the amt. of calories consumed in order to lose fat. You cannot just keep gorging on foods and burn more fat, I can't believe someone actually recommends this. Someone is talking out of their ass w/ this one and has no understanding of fat loss and has never read a study before on nutrition.

Fat absolutely can and will be stored as fat if excess calories are consumed. Even in the prescence of low to no insulin via ASP, fat will be stored if caloric intake is greater than caloric needs. Greatly increasing fat can cause large amt.s of fat storage more easily than overconsuming carbs, in fact. This is one of the reasons a carb refeed works and a fat load/refeed causes fat storage. And Eating fat does NOT increase fat burning. This happens in rodents but NOT humans. Increase in fat intake doesn't increase fat burning pathways in humans, decreased carb intake does and so does decreased calories.

The fast weight loss in the 1st week is mainly water as each gram of glycogen holds 3g of water, so w/ depleted glycogen comes less water storage. In addition less residue in the GI tract from lowered carb intake. This is not true fat loss so dont be fooled.

Of course, the concept of low carbs from lean meats, veggies and some fruit is a healthy way of eating and losing fat, but not for the reasons given in the article nor are the recommendations sound.

I don't want to give the wrong impression here. I posted it, verbatim, for the knowing to critisize. And you guys did a great job. I am glad I did post it, I was about to try it but I was skeptical and needed more sound advice. I have decided to learn as much about CKD as I can and follow that diet instead. Thanks all for your input
