F**king Staph!

Geez. I'm thinking twice of reusing syringes. I never use the same pin twice, but use the same syringe several times and just put new pin on. Use those alcohol prep pads like a mother too. Wipe the vial, area to be injected, even fresh pins out of package and even wipe area injected after injection.

Not sure if you meant that you run the new pin with alcohol swabs before injecting...if so, DON'T! Major no-no.

It sounds like the doctors you have seen are enjoying a lot of speculation, but nobody is willing to do tests. Shop around for a doctor who is willing to act, they are there to serve you. Like the saying goes, one test is worth 1000 expert opinions.

Is there not some kind of test to tell what kind of infection it is? If I were you I would start doing some research and figure out what kind of test you need. Then go back to your doc and tell him you want these specific test done. I have found over the years that if you contract something that most docs are not that familuar with, its best to do your own research and learn as much as you can about it. That way you and your doc can talk on a more even playing field.

I am not sure if you guys are using the same needle to draw the oil as you are using to inject, but I would invest in some 1.5" 20 guage needles for drawing purposes. This way the needle that is used for inject stays sterile and covered until seconds before penetration. You can never be too careful when it comes to safety. Also, the additional 6-10 bucks you spend on a pack of drawing needles is money well spent when you consider all the money you may spend in medical bills.

To Froto also. Definitely I agree totally. I have even told them what I thought it was and my main doc and dermatologist both agreed that that's what they thought it might be. Now the ER doc at the hospital thought something totally different. Talked to my fiances dermatologist today and she wasn't sure either but also seemed to think it might be some kind of herpetitic simplex virus? This sounds plausible since I have suffered from terrible mouth sores and ulcerations since the time I was 5 years old after having the chicken pox so who knows? I have done so much research on my own part and really can't find one thing that is exactly like what I have going on. Havn't even seen any Staph photos or Herpes Simplex photos that look like what I've been getting. I also have requested tests from the doctors including Blood tests, urine tests, skin biopsys, and cultures of active lesions but nobody seems to want to do anything of that nature. The doc in the ER said that the sores were not big enough and open enough to do a culture on which I think is bullshit considering even if they weren't he could at least delicately slice a small amount of infected skin off. He also mentioned that if it was viral than nothing would really even show up with the culture and we'd be back to square one. I said ,"well at least we would then know for sure that it isn't a bacterial infection then wouldn't we?". But still no tests have been done. I am going to keep taking digital pictures of the condition if it keeps persisting to show my fiances dermatologist who said she will see me and culture me if the condition does persist and gets worse. I will keep all you guys posted. Again thank you all for your concern and suggestions!

Still no resolve. The prednisone helped while on, but as soon as I got off they came right back and even worse again. The Famvir for herpes simplex didn't do shit. Personally, don't think it has anything to do with herpes. I'm still leaning towards staph, but who knows. I have another appointment with a different university dermatologist tomorrow so wish me luck guys. I'm going to demand some kind of testing to be done this time, I ain't trying to here what they think it might be anymore. I'll keep ya'll posted.
