Extreme shoulder pain!

I came off of a d-bol, test, stanazolol cycle about 4 weeks ago... only lost 3 lbs, kept alot of strength but now my shoulders are fucked. they hurt when i work chest, bi's, shoulders (of course), even tris. what do you bros think happened? what should i do.... i've had to cut my workouts short the past couple weeks because of the pain. should i wait it out or go see the doc?

Take some time off and see if your shoulder heals. I don't think you tore a muscle or injured your rotator cuff, or you wouldn't be able to lift any weight.

Go get it checked out. I have injured my rotator a couple of times the first time I waited to get it check out and ended up with 18months of rehab to regain the strength I lost. When on cycle you may lift more weight than your body is ready for. This sets you up for injuries that you won't feel right away.

yeah, i'm probably gonna do that. i dont want to f myself for life by pushing it. it's to the point that i cant f'n drive after my workouts 'cause it's difficult for me to turn the wheel.

Dude....same problem here.....injured my shoulder about 2 months ago.....it would keep me up at night. Laid off of it for a month and work light on chest/shoulders......it helped tons!

Being that when you are "on" you experience signifigant muscle growth & the tendons remain the same size & strength, you may have some mildly strained tendons or tendonitis, perhaps bursitis(bursa sack inflamation). If any of these are the case, the ONLY option you have(other than working through the pain) is to take 1-2 weks off. You can still train legs, but I would stay away from squats, since I'm gonna guess that it hurts like hell when you grab the squat bar & wrench yourself under it right? I had this problem(tendonitis or bursitis--I never bothered to get it diagnosed)for 3 years & I simply had to load up on Aleve & work through the pain. The ONLY reason it healed up was that I had a pinched nerve in my neck & was FORCED to take 3 weeks off. The other option that you may want to try is to ask your doc if he would consider prescribing you Feldene. Im not sure if they still make it, but if they dont there is probably something similar. It is an anti-inflamatory med. that is used for severe arthritis. I took it about 10 years ago for a wrist problem & it cleared that shit up in like 3 days(no bullshit). Good Luck my bro!!

feldene, huh? some other bro told me to go get a cortizone shot. i hate to take two weeks off..... that sucks, but, its better than living w/ this shit for any longer. i'll probably go see a doc and take a couple weeks off. i wanted to start training for a show in july 2002 the beginning of october but i guess it'll have to wait til the mid-end. thanks, bros. peace.

A cortizone shot would work well also. I've had one done to my left knee about 5 years ago & it definitely clears the pain up right away. The only problem with that is that a cortizone shot is the medical equivelent of being crucified, as far as the pain goes. I had mine done at a medical clinic & the doc had to call most of the nursing staff away from what they were doin in order to hold me down & keep from sqirming or jumping. The needle they use is like a freakin whale hook & they put the shot in the joint, not the muscle--in case you dont already know this that is. I consider myself to be highly tolerant as far as my pain threshhold is concerned, but that shit is pretty excruciating I must say. I live near Pittsburgh, Pa and you are always hearing Mario Lemieux talk about getting cortizone shots in his spine, for his bad back. I cant even imagine how bad that would hurt. I would take pills first, if I had the option.

dude, if you could just see the expression on my face right now.... thanks roidog420, at least it wouldn't be a total surprise when it happens.

similar prob

whenever I do chest workout now the fron of my shoulders kill.
maybe if you adjust your grip when doing bench that might help to more isolate chest or tries and take pressure of your shoulders. maybe working shoulders on different days as your chest tri day might help. you want to make sure you are strengthening your shoulders and not just bulking them with low repetitions. make sure you stretch that shit as often as possible, and your chest; this could be causing the pain, too. I never see anyone stretching shoulders. there are different ways of doing it. do some research on that. I take a little glutamine once in a while to help with the painful pumps I get.

Good Luck man,

From what you were doing, your body was in a super-anticatabolic state, so it couldn't repair the wear that was taking place on your tendons. With the extra water retention from the juice the space in your shoulder is diminished, this causes the tendons to rub against the clavical(shoulder bone) and wear away, ie tendonitis. What you need to do, other than go to an orthopedic docter, a general dick won't be able to help you much. Is NOT USE your shoulder for 2 -3 week. Take 400mg ibprofin every 6 - 8 hours. Now your body is using all the cortisal that was built up over your cycle and thats why the inflamation is so bad. From not continuing to inflame it(rest) the body will slowly work out the inflamation and it won't hurt. Unless you were doing some sick overhead weights, or power exercises(power clean,snatch,jerk...) you probably didn't hurt your rotators.

If your doc does give you the option of a cortison shot, know this. Its highly catabolic. That means it does not longterm good for the shoulder. its just an instant relief of pain. but after 3 days when the analgesic wears off, you'll have so much pressure in your shoulder that it'll hurt like a mother for while. The injection itself does suck, they shoot it into the bursa sack so it gets dispursed throughout the joint and then tend to move the needle around inside your shoulder a few times. I've been to docter after docter for my shoulders. MRI's X-RAYS and CAT's, and I had an orthoscopic acromniopasty done(surgeory) because my shoulders were so muscular that the tendon was worn away just from me moving my arms over my head, with weights of course. The surgeory intales them shaving off the frays of your tendon and then cutting away a portion of the bottom of your collar bone so the tendons have a place to move. It sucks hardcore, its the most painfull surgeory you can have done, which was the 1st thing they told me the day of my surgeory. Just my 2 cents.

The shoulder joint is a large space with alot of room. It is a very unstable joint, but this also means it is very flexible and can move in various planes.

A shoulder shot should not hurt that much. We do them all the time for chronic shoulder pain of various causes and the relief is usually immediate (about an hour) if the shoulder is the problem. This means that the injection is both diagnostic and therapeutic. While you have that window of relief, your doc should set you up for some physical therapy to stabilize and strengthen the shoulder. Last resort is to have an MRI of the shoulder. The steroid shot is probably not the answer to your problem but it will give your doc alot of information to help you out. You must go to a physical medicine and rehab doc or someone who specializes in sports medicine. An ortho doc will also be a fair choice, but surgery usually comes up as an option. Surgery should be a last resort also when it comes to the shoulder unless an MRI shows absolute indications for surgery, which it doesnt sound like you need.

Also ask about Synvisc injection....it is a shot which isnt a coritcosteroid. It is actually hyaluronate, which is like oil to an engine and is naturally occurring in our bodies. It will help lube up your shoulder internally and reduce friction.
