HOW CRITICAL IS THE EXPIRATION DATE ON TEST AND IS THERE ANY WAY OF TELLING IF ITS FAKE OR THE REAL THING OTHER THAN TRYING IT

The best way to check your gear is have it lab tested.
Second choice is to view pictures of known fakes to see if yours have the same flaws. Most of the time counterfiets are easily spotted, but not always.
You can also post a picture of your gear and have others view it.
A good start would be to clue us in on exactly what brand, dosage it is.
