explain something about American Psycho to me

He did.

Watch the second one. The movie starts by discussing him and how he was one of the biggest mass-murders in history.

Without the second movie it is open to interpretation. I assumed he didn't and that it was all in his head.

BTW the second one sucks.

Also, watch "The Machinist" It has Christian Bale and it quite a trip (a slow movie though) but very stimulating. He should have won an Academy Award for his acting, and the way he transformed his body. Amazing.

did he kill those people or did he just imagine it?
AAP, that was the freakest movie I have ever seen. he puts that damn ice pack over his head in the morining. lol

that movie gave me the creeps
I am getting superman returns tomorrow on netflix

What is the name of the second one?

Also, if he did it... how could that man have had dinner with Paul Allen in London and why didn't the bodies show up when he visited that open house where he hid them?

The book goes into the fact that his family is extremely rich and powerful, old money stuff. It also touches on killings where he went to school, vacation, etc. You pretty much are led to believe that everything is just covered up. It's an amazingly angry and sadistic read. At the same time, it's hillarious.

the one book covers both movies?

No. The second one was a straight to video kind of deal. I don't think he's even in it.

I think Patrick Bateman appears in American Psycho2 but is killed in the opening scene. Can't remember who played him.

it was in his head. his life was so routine, mundane, and boring to him that he developed a sort of schitzophrenic alter ago.

Did you read the book? Or is this a guess?

that's how i interpreted the movie, I haven't read the book but want to, maybe over Christmas.

it is hard to determine if he did or didn't. I mean, it is pretty clear he did, but then no bodies, etc...

maybe the police was a figment of his imagination as well.

I think it blurs the line between reality and fantasy, some of the murders he committed but some he didn't. Towards the end, he couldn't even tell.

Best answer yet...

Altough I haven't read the book. Based on the story the movie tell they are obviously intentionally leading the audience to beleive there is a great self dillusion involved. Exactly what is dillusion and what is reality is left to you to ponder... as would Patrick Bateman if he ever realized that he was dilluisional... his life would unravel... what was real... what was fantasy!

I wish I would wake up and realize that a great portion of my life was a big dillusion.... that'd be sweet!

I just remembered a part from Glamorama, another Ellis book, where the main character saw Pat Bateman in a restaurant and noticed a strange stain on his jacket. It was real. (book real)
