Ever seen Trans Siberian Orchestra?

Just saw them tonight and holy hell these guys are amazing. Tough to listen to any other Christmas music after this. A normal running concert for other acts was only the first half for them. After listening to so much mainstream music hearing this level of talent is a breath of fresh air. A little repetitive here and there but minor complaint next to all they did right. Well worth the money to see live.

Although youtube is understandably a bit cringe-worthy next to that it's enough to get an idea-

Even on the upper level you could feel the heat from those flames shooting off.

Basically I was building on the work of everybody I worshiped, I’ve always believed that music has the power to transport and transform, That was so much in the spirit of Trans-Siberian Orchestra, This is a group — a constantly morphing group — of extremely creative and talented individuals who are always trying to raise the bar of where a band can take its audience sonically, visually and emotionally.

-Chris O’Neil, the bands creator

I have seen them twice so far and will see them again when they are in my city.
You have to go and see them again the next time they are around. YOu will enjoy it even more the next time.

Its such a cross of 70's and 80's rock with the flash pots and big light show.

I was hoping they would be here again this year but well there is always next year if Im not dead.

9 times, including both east and west coast companies for Christmas, as well as the inaugural Beethoven's Last Night tour. Have even seen them with Paul O' Neill playing keyboards as well. Easily one of the best theatrical live shows you'll ever see! Plus, every year their stage just continues to grow! I'm wondering when they'll need a stadium to finally accommodate the show!

It's also one of the few shows where ticket prices are still reasonable for the 2 1/2 hour show you get!

I wouldn't walk across the street to hear that overwrought noise for free.

But they do put on a spectacular show, and were one of the first tours with massive moving trusses for the lighting.

David Lee Roth was using massive light rigs with moving trusses in the late 80's! Not nearly as new as you'd think.

I guess TSO's innovation then is the huge moving trusses that go over the entire floor of the auditorium, not just the stage.

Still, the mix of orchestral and light metal, guys with pointy guitars and tuxedos, is ludicrous.

So are you a connoisseur of music?

Seriously?

I have a tin ear and don't have a strong sense of taste either. But for same reason, I am sensitive to smells.

Usually smell and taste are linked. People who have lost the sense of smell can only discern a few tastes I think - sweet, salty and bitter, if I remember correctly.

I worked "in the music business" until earlier this year. I was "over-entertained" to the point where I've become very picky about what music I choose to hear. Okay, I'm a snob.

I originally mistyped -- "some" as "same". It is unusual for me to discern smells well but still not be sensitive to taste.

And when it comes to day-to-day living, I'm an extreme anti-snob.

Go figure!
