Ever had this problem with your forearms?

For the last several weeks my forearms have been hurting along the ulna bone (bone that runs opposite your thumb). It hurts most when I do curling exercises where my palms are facing up, but it hurts any time I grip something very hard. I have had it a few times before and it takes a while to go away. For me it stems from training biceps. Every once in a while this will happen.
What causes it?
How can I prevent it?
What do I need to do to get rid of it when it happens?

Thanks

This should probably be on training board...

I am not sure how it caused exactly...but for many it can be due an imbalance with the extensors and flexors...where the extensors need to be strengthened

I'm guessing you got this from barbell curls.....if you still want to do curls try DBs or just stop curling altogether....

If you are worried about biceps do chin ups..preferrably weighted

Take a break from doing forearms/bis for at week or so, then use lighter dumbells than usual to ease back into it. You probably just worked them at an unusual angle than they're used to and perhaps strained something. Don't make the mistake I've made more than once by overdoing it time and time again.

I haven't had good luck with people responding to stuff in the training forum.

I think I got it from preacher curls with the EZ_curl bar.

And it has been getting worse from me not letting it heal.

Yeh most of the time it's either preachers or standing BB curls...don't really know why...

I think with your last sentence you know what to do...I have some weird nerve problem in my left forearm that causes an electric "contraction" when I do curl movements...so I just stopped...and guess what...biceps are bigger..

Sorry for that hijack...hope your problem improves

forearm splints... does it hurt when you put the weight down? Here's how i have been overcoming this. work forearms light on a day when you do nothing else. my bicep routine is only 3 exercises... avoid straight bar curls... they will kill you... used cambered and a good preacher bench. it worked for me... also dumbells on the preacher helps too... alleviates some of the presure... good luck man.

Thanks saint (and everyone else). And yes. it does hurt the most when I put the weight down.

sounds like tendonitis. i had the same shit on and off a year ago. when it hit me i just had to decrease weights on curls to let my tendons recover.

have you been making strength increases on curls lately?

dude, i had the same pain before. it hurt when i would do barbell curls or ez bar curls. i just switched to all dumbells for my curls, and it didn't hurt with dumbells no matter if i had a regular or a hammer grip

sounds simplistic but it works...

on the negative put the weight down slowly (especially the last rep)

i had these pains for a long time with straigh bbell curls until i started doing that.

I get the same thing from time to time.... its been REALLY bad before.. and now it just comes and goes..

Like everyone here said, the dumbell curls never hurt it.. straight bar is the worst, but I still do it.. I just don't do it too often.

It eventually goes away, it had them when i was dumbell curling around 40lbs and straight bar curls too. I just upped the weight and the pain eventually weight away as I got stronger, curling the 60-70 dumbells now with no problems, just stick it out bro.
