Ever had a week without a computer problem???

When you used computers?

The computer world blows my mind. I ALWAYS have a major problem.

One of this weeks problems. MY lap top quits about halfway into its boot up. Just quits. WTF could cause that?

Yep, my stuff at home runs smooooth. Work is another matter. Idiot IT dudes are running that problem.

But, I take precautions that they average user doesn't take. The vast majority of problems are self induced, be they intentional or not.

Quits how?

T Boy you have way too many computer troubles than you should, did you read the previous thread about virus problems I gave some help there.

Here it is just for you:

First of all, don't assume that people, FBI, CIA or whoever are trying to hack into your system. Quit the paranoia shit.

Now, go to this site:

http://www.free-av.com/

Download and run AV.

If you have not already done so, install ad-aware, spyblaster and zonealarm.

They are all free.

Finally, run Hijack this.

Get it here: http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022-10307556.

Before you remove anything ask here first:

They can help you with almost anything related to internet or computer problems.

It the OS is installed properly something it probably wrong with the hard drive or motherboard. So maybe a new HD or flashing the the motherboard with the last bio would fix it.

this dial up piece of shit is to slow to catch up with a virus, dont have any cables way out here where i live.

The lap top was hooked up to the internet for about 15 minutes a few months ago Windows updates.

Enough time for Microsoft to disable the program I had just purchased that allowed me to make convenient copies of dvd's.....but thats another story. Irritating since I make dvd's professionally.

The lap top screen does not work so I hook it up to my monitor. Something went wrong with the lap tops feed to the monitor.

Max.....you are very naive. Innocence is bliss. You ought to read a book or two someday...on the subject that you profess some knowledge of.

One problem a day is about right. Yesterdays problem went like this:

A couple sent an email stating that they wanted to book me for a wedding. Despite having a junk mail rating of LOW, it got sent to junk mail. They got skittish upon hearing of this and failed to follow through.

Thanks Microsoft.

For the past three months, all web site email inquiries have been sent to junk mail.

Someday my web site will all work properly and I will do pretty well.

It got deleted a while ago....search engines didn't really find links for three months.

I could have a Brazilian villa if things actually worked right.

Since I have XP pro, I dont have so many problems. In fact, I didnt have to reformat my disk while using Win98 this was a common routine every 2-3 months.

yes! i would hate to have one. The root to all problems is usually spyware, and you trying to delete it improperly. Max 300 has the best advise. Get anti-spyware softwares. Reformating your comp once in a while is not a bad idea either.

I have xp pro also. The only thing that screws up on my system is Windows Media Player. It will work for about a day then it will quit working.

I just installed Windows Media Player 10 so hopefully this will be fixed.

I hardly ever have computer problems. I noticed that the less programs you install, the less your computer messes up.

I was running Windows Server 2003 last year and I remember I didn't reboot my computer for 3 months straight. I broke my running record when I had to install a new video card driver... :( I would still be running Win2k3 if I didn't like to play games so much.
