I don’t have an answer for you so consider this a bump. Quito or Guayaquil? When I saw Ecuador it your post title it brought back some not so fond memories from when I lived in Guayaquil for 9 long months. The Galapagos Islands were nice though…

Quito.....but been to both cities and i could not do 9 months there!!! Was in the Islands for 1 month, loved it on a 42' sailboat.

It was supposed to be a year! But nothing gets done down there; the people just won’t listen to anybody, so I pleaded my case and came home early. Businessmen show up 3 hours late for meetings to show how important they are, everybody is on the take, the automobile pollution is horrible. The upside is that you can live like a king in a fully staffed mansion for what amounts to peanuts, and of course the islands are beautiful as you know.

I would bet that if they do stock the items that you need you could buy and/or bribe whatever you want out them.
