Hey guys
I'm just wondering, what exactly is ephedra? I hear all this stuff how its illegal but what is it? Is it juice? Does it make you gain muscle and if so how bad is it on your body? One more thing... Do you have to have pct if you take it? thanks

Ephedra is a stimulant. It stimulates the brain, increases your heart rate, constricts your blood vessels, which makes your blood pressure go up, increases your metabolism, and allows you to breathe a bit easier since it expands your bronchial tubes.

It's considered a 'performance enhancing drug', but there isn't much proof it significantly improves athletic performance. Since it increases body heat, it can be used for weight loss, but I wouldn't recommend it.

The sides aren't pretty either. Your skin can react pretty badly to it. It can make you nervous and dizzy. Other sides are insomnia, vomiting, heart attacks, strokes, seizures, and it can even kill you.

That's what a doctor would say, so I'm letting you know. Though since most, if not all of these side effects are rare, don't let it scare you, as theres sides for almost every medication and most users don't get them.

From what I've heard from actual long-term users, they say they love it.

Hope this helps.

I honestly used it for 3 years or so I never had a problem you can be fine to if you just take small amounts and figure out what ur limit is

The above poster is partially correct. Several years back it was taken off the market due to some people taking had heart attacks. it was then placed back on the market because the FDA could not prove this is what kiled the people. They have made it in a much lower dose.

yes you can get dizzy, increase your BP and get jittery. For me those sides do not last long. It puts me in a better mood and I am focused more. In a recent MD magazine there was a study done with this and caffiene and natural. those taken caffiene or ephedra did show an increase in strength.

If you have a pre exisiting heart problem or hypertension then avoid all stimulants including your cup of joe

I took it at 75mgs for 10 weeks and i never had one bad side effect...The above poster who said not to mess with Eph. has read way too much mainstream media articles.

Some people on this board have been taking Eph every day for years and have never had a single problem.

Actually, I haven't read any. I just know the facts. What I posted above was all that I knew straight from people who have used it. I don't know what dosage they used or for how long, but like a doctor, make the person informed of any and every peice of information, even if the possibility of getting the sides is low.

Yeah, I understand that, but you cant put it out there that it is worthless and that the sides are "deadly", unless you talk about dosing and missuse.

If handled like any substance should be, with respect and and understanding, ALMOST anything can be safe.

I would MUCH rather teach someone to use Eph than Clen or Albuteral.

I dont have a problem with telling what the sides may be, but you should also let him know that LOTS of people ahve great results with little to no sides and all.

I dont want any trouble :-P

Drugs work differently on every person.

I've used ephedrine for over ten years and never had problems. On the other hand, I know people that experience nausea with it, and yet others who become overstimulated at a relatively low dosage.

Also note there exists a difference between ephedra and ephedrine (the naming of drugs has become extremely ambiguous over the past few years). Ephedra isn't illegal per se. The herbal stuff has just become illegal to sell. You can still possess it. The "real" stuff -- ephedrine HCl -- is still mostly available throughout the United States at gas stations.

Ephedrine is not "juice". It's usually considered a stimulant -- more specifically, it targets the adrenoreceptors, leading down a few chemical pathways to [nor]adrenaline. It's main uses are as a stimulant, thermogenic, and bronchodialator.

^^^^^^^^^ Right on target.....it stimulates the central nervous system, dialates brochioles in the lungs.....can cause a "hair-tingling" type buzz and make you feel like Superman. Used to be sold as mini-thins, trucker speed, etc. The funny and sad thing about ephedra (chines herb ma huang) is that the heart related deaths were part of the reason for its abolishment in the US......the largest part of it is that the real druggies were buying it at Wal-Mart (pseudephedrine HCL) and making homebrew ecstasy with it.
