Ephedra and Cold Medicine

I have always heard that you should not take cold/allergy medicine when taking Ephedra products because of some drug interaction. Does anyone have any links or articles on this subject? Or if no links, have any information on what exactly the interaction is, and what certain drug in cold/allergy medicine causes the reaction/problem when taken with Ephedra? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Just be careful to not combine too much Ephedra with any ephedrine/pseudoephedrine product. Tolerance varies among individuals, but you'll probably be OK combining the two as long as you don't take too much of one or the other. If you must combine the two, just take half dosages every 30-60 mins until desired effects kick in.

the reason they probably say not to take them together is they are both used to make crystle meth, not that you would be experiencing anything like that but there would probably be some kind of interaction there, also not all cold meds just ones containing dextroverse which i know is found in robitussin

does it have anything to do with both causing blood vessel constriction? I pieced that together as I keep trying to find information. Thanks for your help guys.

I take 120mg of pseudoephedrine every day (4 30mg tabs) AND take 50mg of ephedrine. No problems at all. listen to your body; you'll be fine.

ephedra does interact with non-drowsy antihistamines, which is most non-drowsy cough and cold meds. I think with regular antihistamines, you should be fine.

I use Flonase for m allergies and can't find anything regarding that and ephedra interaction. It's not that big of a deal but I would like to know just to be as safe and informed as possible. Thanks again fellas!
