Enthralling Books?

Stumpy said:

Remarque does not "degrade German culture" in that book, or in any of his books.

I'm pretty sure that you HAVE NOT read that book.

Why would I make a comment on a piece of literature if I had not read it? As you know, it was written by the same author as one of my favourite novels. Therefore, there is a high probability that I have explored his other works.

In addition, my personal judgment of the novel is my interpretation of his writings, so I do not believe that you can convincingly believe that your opinion is the final word on this particular novel.

You have posted many false and ridiculous things on this board, many of which were just plain nutty.

Therefore, I take everything that you post with a grain of salt.

That is correct.

If one is to draw an affirmative conclusion from your previous claim, then the probability is high. However, that might not necessarily be the case.

Because it's thematically and stylistically basic, All Quiet on the Western Front is required reading in many US middle/high schools. Your familiarity with that novel does not automatically lead one to assume that you've read Remarque's other novels.

Is that your way of weaseling out of defending your absurd accusation, by introducing a straw man?

That is weak.

Manufacturing Consent

Great book.

I might check out Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion.

In a totally different vein my next book is the Motley Crue biography.
