Enter LeptiGen

From www.mindandmuscle.net/magazine/i7pimpology.html

We have been mentioning for several months that we had a truly revolutionary product in the works. Well, it is finally here.

I give you: LeptiGen

Most of you have read my series of articles on leptin (aka "The next big thing"). If you have not, do so now, as it will help you understand the significance of all of this. LeptiGen is the culmination of my research in this area. Previous to this, the only solution to falling leptin levels when dieting was the use of regular refeeds, but aside from being a 2 steps forward, 1 step back approach, leptin levels would ultimately still drop to some extent. Refeeds could mitigate the fall from a caloric deficit, but leptin is signalled by bodyfat stores as well, so one would have to either gain the fat back (not an option) or make up for it on the calorie balance side of the equation, which would, of course, require the consumption of an amount of calories that would lead to fat gain (again, not an option).

Enter LeptiGen

LeptiGen is designed to trick your body into thinking it is being fed - without the calories that normally come with producing the fed state. This means we can now, not only completely avoid the problems associated with decreased leptin levels during dieting, such as a slow-down in fat loss, increased appetite, fatigue, and increased LBM loss, but we can do so without wasting time with refeeds, or even worse, going backwards by overdoing it, as is common.

Because leptin is such a complicated subject and LeptiGen is such a revolutionary product, I am going to be more vague than I generally am in regards to the mechanisms and the scientific data on the individual ingredients. I will present quite a bit more information next issue, but even then, I am not going to provide a recipe for all of the copycat companies out there to jump on the bandwagon - and, I will be VERY vague this issue. I am making the assumption that you, the consumer, will make that little leap of faith and give it a try based on our track record of producing nothing but top of the line, innovative, and efficacious products, the fact that I have clearly demonstrated my knowledge of the subject at hand in my articles, and, of course, our 100% money back guarantee. I am quite confident the feedback will then speak for itself.

A bit on what is in it and how it works (and God does it look magnificent on paper!) LeptiGen contains: 1) A few ingredients that have been shown to increases leptin levels in multiple studies, but through unknown mechanisms. 2) An ingredient that is a substrate involved in leptin signaling via glucose flux, which occurs downstream of the rate-limiting step in this pathway. 3) Another product of glucose metabolism that acts as a leptin secretagogue through another, unexplored pathway. 4) An ingredient that mimicks CCK, which in addition to inducing satiety, has been shown to be extremely synergistic with leptin, and finally, 5) an ingredient that increases transport of leptin into the CNS, where it actually works most of its magic.

A bit on how to use it, what to expect, and how to maximize results. First, this will not cause a profound increase in metabolism like DNP or usinic acid would, unless the user had low leptin levels to begin with. So, a caloric deficit is necessary, via dieting, exercise, and/or supplementation (it will work extremely well with usnic acid or DNP). What it will do is keep your metabolism from slowing down - even on extremely low calorie diets. Thus, the "moderate deficit" mantra, which was previously advice well worth heeding, can now be forever banished from our heart and minds. So, if you can go hard-core, go hard-core with impunity.

One of the most important ingredients competes with glucose for transport into the cell, so we will want to take LeptiGen BETWEEN meals. Having a serving ready to gulp down in the middle of the night will be extremely productive, as it should prevent the morning drop in leptin levels.

As to actual dosing, you will take 1/2 to 1 serving, 3-6 times per day, mixed in a sugar-free, sweetened drink (such a diet Coke or Kool-Aid with artificial sweetener) for a total of 3 servings at the highest dosing -- dosing will be adjusted down accordingly, for those with higher bodyfats and less extreme caloric deficits. We will have a comprehensive chart for you next Friday. A loading phase at double dosing would be appropriate for someone with low leptin levels - i.e. someone who has been dieting for an extended period or has very low bodyfat or someone who has moderate bodyfat but has not been using refeeds.

Initial testing

Of course, looking great on paper is one thing, producing in the real world is quite another. Three people, including myself, have tested an early, inferior formulation. Despite perhaps being only 1/2 as potent than the current formulation, our initial testing did not dissappoint.

Subject 1: Dante

This is the Dante, from BB.com, and for those who are not familiar with him, he was and is VERY lean (probably sub 6%), despite his modesty (his pics can be found on bb.com), and he is about the most meticulous person on Earth, so he is an excellent subject and his feedback is gold.

"My 2-½ week LeptiGen Trial"

"Previous to my use of LeptiGen, I was already lean, although not to an extent toward which I had been before. My vascularity was becoming less noticeable (relatively), and I was tired and hungry on a consistent basis. Normally, I have a rabid appetite, a point toward which I can eat anything and everything regardless of the time of the day, and irrespective of my activities as performed during that day.

For the first week and a half, I used ½ teaspoon 6 times per day in water, while keeping my calories at approximately 2400-2500 per day, with Protein being around 240 grams, Fat around 80 and Carbs around 200. For this first week, I did notice a reduction in my appetite, and as well at this rate of caloric intake, my lifts at the gym remained level, if not progressive (that is, I did not get weaker upon doing this). In terms of appearance, my abs became more visible, and my vascularity (especially in arms, and calves) started to become more pronounced.

Upon the last week, I further cut my calories down to 2000, thus with an intake of 240 grams of Protein, 70-80 grams of Fat, and 90-100 grams of Carbs. At this time, I also increased my intake of LeptiGen by 50%, thus taking ¾ of a teaspoon 6 times per day. For this second week, I noticed a significant reduction of appetite, along with a more pronounced presence of definition and vascularity, and once again, my lifts in the gym remained stable, if not progressive.

With regards to appetite, again keeping in mind what is normally a voracious craving for all that is before me (and for that which is not as well), it would be best to say that I still thought of eating, but I could get by without much thought to it, as opposed to the normal circumstance (normally I would be panicking, almost obsessed with eating in my physical hunger for food, even at a higher rate of caloric intake without dieting).

Although it is so stated that this should be mixed in sugar-free Kool-Aid, I only used water. As for taste, I can best describe it in water, as sugary sand (which is not bad, per say). And so I would assume that in a sweetened drink, it would more or less be without consequence to the taste of the beverage.

Editors Note: The "sandiness" will be gone in the present formulation.

With this said, I started at a weight of approximately 188, and ended up at about 185. There were no other recently introduced variables used along with LeptiGen, so whatever changed in appetite and the sparing of my strength in the gym, can objectively be attributed, within reason, to the use of LeptiGen. I did use an ECA stack with this, but such is my normal continual use of Ephedrine, so that was of no recent consequence to this.

Thus, for this period of two ½ weeks, speaking with regards to LeptiGen (and considering such regards of my reduced caloric intake), I can attribute my loss of weight, the sparing of my strength, and the increase of definition/vascularity to the LeptiGen, as this was the only variable to be introduced upon doing so. "

Subject 2: RJohnson

Editors Note: "RJohnson" codesigned "M" for Biotest as well Tranquili-G for us. He has recently become head of R&D at Gaspari Nutrition, and should be making a bit of noise in the near future, including a foray into the wonderful world of leptin.

"I used Leptigen for roughly 4 wks. During this time fat loss accelerated or should I say resumed prior to Leptigen I had been dieting and was stuck). Overall I noticed a significant reduction in appetite. In fact some days I barely ate at all 1500 kcal. My brother and girlfriend both commented on my apparent new found progress (body fat reduction) so I know something was going on.

Finally, when I diet, I typically lose a ton of muscle once I dip below the 7 percent mark. This didn't seem to happen while using Leptigen. My stomach also felt "full" after ingesting the supplement. Tolerance was good until I abused it (then I felt bloated and had some GI distress). Bottom line -- appetite was controlled, and I was able to reach 6 percent without the typical hunger pangs and muscle loss.

Subject 3: Par Deus

"I tested it for the longest period, utilized it in the most efficacious manner (very low calories), and of course, knew best as to what signs to look for to see if it was keeping leptin levels up. If I would have been a bit leaner, it would have been better, but as it was, I started close to my lowest bodyfat, but not below it. In addition I had two extended weekends of being horrible, as far as food and drinking alcohol, so I did not get as far below my lowest bodyfat as I would have liked (the lower bodyfat drops, the more leptigen would help/would be needed). That aside, I am quite certain LeptiGen did exactly what it was designed to do.

I used it for about 2 weeks with a moderate calorie deficit and no refeeds, and it seemed to produced a positive effects on both appetite and fat loss, but I did not pay that much attention because my bodyfat was a bit high. I then tested it with a large calories deficit (1000-1500 a day, also with no refeeds).

At a bodyfat that I normally need a reefed every 2-3 days like clockwork, or I start absolutely craving foods and feeling like shit, I was going 4-6 days without refeeds, and the refeeds were very moderate - basically just to replenish a bit of muscle glycogen. On LeptiGen, despite the large deficit and no refeeds, if my time was occupied, I would actually completely forget about eating, which is VERY unusual for me, even on a mass phase.

In addition, the fatigue/malaise never set in -- energy and mood were very good. I used only two ½ doses of EC a day -- in the days before refeeds, I would use as much 3 full doses and 75-150mg of PPA, and even with refeeds, I would still need 2 full doses on a more moderate diet.

Thus, I was quite pleased with the results of my testing"

And, again, all of this was an inferior formula -- the current one should be 50-100% MORE effective.

The LeptiGen "prototype" will be available next Friday. The prototype differs from our "betas" in that it will not be the exact formula as the final version. The main change will be the addition of flavoring agents, so you can mix it with water instead of sugar free kool-aid and such. It is also possible that we might tweak the actives if and new data arises. It will cost about 1/2 what the final version will and 33% less than the beta. It is in limited quantity, as we hope to have a beta version ready soon, so we are taking pre-orders .

9/9/2002: LeptiGen update by Par Deus

Production o_n Prototype II of LeptiGen has been postponed for probably 6-8 weeks, so we are suspending pre-orders.

There are a few reasons:
There is about 3-4 months of new research since the formula for Prototype I was finalized.

There are a great deal of business matters that I need to attend to over the next 1-2 months, which will ultimately make the release of LeptiGen and future product
far more fruitful for both Avant Labs and our customers.

The fact that I have not (and likely will not for a bit of time) written the supporting article o_n the science behind LeptiGen has had the result that I am not exactly
pulling the tracks out from under a product with a great deal of momentum.

Thus, I ultimately came to the conclusion that it would be far better to lose sales now then risk bringing a product out that is less than ideal. Plus, summer is over, so we are all bulking anyway :)
