Energy issues

New member
I'm having issues with not having enough energy during my work outs.
Can someone recommend foods i should include in my diet more?
possible supplements?
and what things i should stay away from to solve this problem?
I won't take any of these quick energy drinks or those chocolate energy syrups, i've tried it and they don't seem to go to well with me.

thank you

I dont know if you can buy it there, but 'Supermalt' is fantastic for giving you energy and keeping you calm (although most dont like the taste). Its an energy-health drink, but gives you sustained energy rather than these crappy high-low caffinated drinks.

Also how about purchasing yourself some smelling salts to snap you into gear just when you need it. I've just purchased 'Nose Tork' from http://irongladiators.com/index.cfm?page=accessories.cfm and am informed this works better than the standard ammonia capsules normaly used. Basically, the smell has a simulant effect that jacks your breathing up and gets you pumped (not too expensive either!).

caffeine and other engery boost things leave me SUPER burnt out after a work out to a point where i just want to play xbox and do nothing else..lol
i'm thinking taking the route of more complex carbs may help.

what are you eating now
we can hardly modify a diet if we dont know what we start with
I'd say eat more fruit
some apples and pears...
not sure how to time it with reguards to the workout tho sorry

i'm eat indian..so food at home is pretty much the east indian food minus the deep fried stuff... outside its generally subs, etc etc... i'm pretty much avoiding junk foods unhealthy foods.. i don't follow a diet plan
just trying to make healthy choices when i eat ;)

1000mcg of injectable B-12, 30 mins. before training always seems to help me energy-wise. Not saying that it'll work the same for you, that's just how it goes down for me. Good luck because low energy days suck!!!

alright... perfect, once again very informative information!
I train three times per week so i doubt its over training.. i'm pretty sure its my diet after taking reviewing foods that contain complex carbsohydrates

I think you should post up what you eat in one day and then we can help you better. You will be amazed once you put it into print and then take a look at it. Also, post up your bodyweight. These things will help, because when you say you eat 'indian' I have no clue what that means. Also if you're eating subs - that's not something I would have suggested, but we can work with what you have.

I'm pretty sure its tied to food, and as Illuminati said - sleep possibly.

I always eat a cup of oatmeal (54carbs) and drink a protein shake about 45 mins before my workout. This usually does the trick. On really sluggish days I drink Red Bull and take some ephedra also. If I am still not feeling it and workout is sucking I take a break for the day.

doesnt matter...if you are not sleeping or getting proper rest you can still overtrain regardless of frequency.
