Encountered an intruder last night.

Hello All,

I live with my GF in an Apartment block near the centre of our city. Anyhow, in order to get in, you first open the general entrance door and then the one to your flat. Stupidly, I never locked my door last night before going to sleep. But, to make matters worse, some other dude in a different Apartment left the main door unlocked as well. Anyhow, wasn't sleeping to well last night. Around 4AM, which is when you should be in a deep sleep, the door of our bedroom opened. I looked up to see a person coming in. He's obviously decided that the room was where the valuables were. I got up and charged at him like a Bull, but he ran off. Luckily I disturbed him as he came in and nothing was taken, but to encounter someone in your home isn't nice. I'll never be that careless again.

That was me. I couldn't remember if your GF told me to come over at 4 AM or 4 PM. I guess I chose the wrong one.

I've heard that its almost commonplace in Britain that people have home invasion style burglaries. Not sure if that's true? Here in the US, crooks tend to wait to make sure no one is home.

I'm glad I have a dog. He would alert us if anyone was in our house. Not that a 7 pound dog would do any damage (he thinks he's tough) but he's our watch puppy.

LMFAO!!!!!!!!

Well, I was lucky in that there have been some horror stories about people getting seriously hurt by intruders. I think it was an opportunist rather than a planned burglary.

Yes, The Osbournes were robbed twice and one time saw Ozzie having a knife wielded at him. Another time, a famous Argentinian footballer playing in London had a knife put to his throat as the thieves demanded cash and jewellary. All that the guy last night in my Apartment would have got was a shit TV!!!!!

omg thats so scary glad u guys are ok

HOLY SHIT! That is scary. Man, I can't believe the would-be burgler timed it just right to find the main door AND your door open. Trash never misses an opportunity. I'm glad you and yours are ok.

LOL word.

Dogs are nice too as Raina mentioned. Wakes your ass up.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yes, its messed up that the main entrance to the apartments is on a key and that it only takes one person to put everyone at risk of being robbed. You guys are also right about low-lifes always finding any perfect opportunity that comes around.

In hindsight, someone should never charge for an intruder, but natural instinct takes over in cases like that. Adrenelin flows and "fight or flight" kicks in and I was fired up to kick his Ass!!!!!

At least all was well that ended well.

Home invasions are becoming more common in Southern Ontario. Usually with aggravated assaults too.

Glad you're OK. I'd hate to have to face that.

Hope you never have to use the Glock. In fact I hope I never have to use one. I have a bat, various swords & knives & a .22 Cooey that isn't much good for house work, LOL.
Good Luck, be safe.

I sleep easy with these 2 dogs in the house. Anything gets close to the house and they alert me and if anyone were crazy enough to break in, I'd feel sorry them after Rocky got through with them.
