It is a great book... everyone should read it.

Basically, everyone has two sides... an emotional one and a rational one. The rational side almost always knows the correct path... the emotional side, well, runs with emotions, rather than intelligent rational thought.

Imagine if you will a small woman in your head (the rational side) and two giants in your head... 10x the size of the woman... both shouting at you to do a certain thing... the giant's voices are much louder and drown out the womans... you have to listen carefully to hear the smaller voice... it's the voice of reason.

You experience this all the time in life... someone gives you advice, you KNOW it is correct, but you act on what you feel... it's a perfect example of acting on your emotions... and doing so, isn't always correct and can be harmful.

Be aware of your emotions, and learn to control them... I've begun this journey... to control how I feel and approach life... anyone else care to?

Yeah ihave been down that road before. Reason tells me to pull my pants up and walk away but the other side says that i love her.

Actually that was a lie.

Have you ever been sad but knew that you were acting stupid?

That's what i did once. I think i can laugh at myself now.

Hmm...interesting..I still am trying to make a sort of merger between the two sides.

That would be the best plan. However, it's hard to not let your emotional side take control. Personally, I need to listen to my rational train of thought... my emotional side doesn't trust it sometimes... it is a leap of faith... for your emotion to turst your rationality... but in the long run, it will be better.

Are you trying to tell me that a womans voice is the voice of reason? :)

Sometimes yes... sometimes no. Although I have found that many women have given me good advice in the past, I wouldn't say it's a standard across the boards.

I was trying to think of an example to use of a "small" voice... or "soft" voice ... it was the best example I could think of. :)

Sounds like a pretty interesting book. If everyone has both an emotional and a rational side to their being, then would you say that most of the time that people fall 'victim' to listening to their emotional side? If so, then is the purpose of the novel to completely drown out the louder emotional voices or to gain control over them, allowing one to hear out the small 'woman' voice of rationality?
You read the book, what did you gain from it besides a better control over your emotions?
