email over phone calls?

Today is my day of rants:

Who else here gets annoyed when someone calls you at work, to tell you something they could have easily written to you via email? I am not anti-social. But unless there is a need for a long conversation (serious problems or great news) i think emails (or IM) do a fine job. And in fact, i prefer to have long conversations via email. I feel like things go smoother via email. And i get to do other things while i read their boring emails about some stupid date they went on last night or about a one of their annoying coworkers.

anyone with me on this one?

Amen - I'm w/ you on that.

A phone call is a major annoyance. It's noisy and disruptive. I usually let my calls roll to voicemail, unless from looking at CallerID I decide to answer.

Email is much more courteous. Plus it gives you all the facts in writing. You don't have to suffer through listening to people jabber incomplete thoughts before they finally get to the point.

exactly.

The only phone calls I get are people wanting me to do something for them so I rarely answer it unless the Caller ID looks
appealing.
