Eliminate Cardio while Bulking?

junk

New member
When cutting I am doing AM cardio x 5 a week at 150pulse(I'm 28) wait an hour and then eat a low glycemic protein bar. Using this way I loose tons of fat every week.

Should I also do AM cardio waiting an hour before eating on a Bulking cycle?

definitly don't eliminate cardio just decrease it. I eliminated last cycle and good god was I out of shape. not only because of not doing the cardio but when I tried to get my fitness back my heart had to cope with the additional stress of 25lbs on my frame which it didn't even know was there. My heart rate was sky high for weeks when doing cardio. Made some good size gains but never gonna eliminate it again

Yup this is what happend to me when i was bulking for the first time also!

I usually cut the cardio out when bulking. Last time I checked, lifting hard tends to get your heart rate in the same neighborhood as does cardio. So, wouldn't that still be cardiovascular activity??? Ask Nelson, he would agree.

I like big cut cardio when bulking. If you want stay in check with bodyfat when bulking handle the diet. I think that cardio is catabolic in some extend, so your body can do two diffferents things same time: or bulk or cutting.
AT same time you are running cardio in empty stomach, I know it is better to eliminate fat, but also do it more catabolic. So take some amino acids before cardio for avoid to "eat" some muscle

it does raise the pulse rate but not enough and not consistently enough, needs to be consistent for 20 minutes at over 140bpm at least. You'll hover around 110-120 bpm for most exercises. It will rise to around 160+ when doing heavy deadlifts or squats but this will still drop down afterwards and is not around there long enough to keep your heart fully fit.

This is funny. You wanna tell me that you pulse is 160+ for deadlifts and squats? That doesn't sound like someone is intense enough. I can get to 190 easily doing squats. Also, during my workout I never get below 140.

That's because everyone is different. Pulse rate calculations for cardio and fat burn are very general and may not be the correct rate for every individual.

I'd also suggest that you cut cardio when bulking as your workout will be heavy anyway, so no need to stress your body further. How much to cut cardio depends on your metabolism, if you have a fast one then you can do just 5min. warmup and get away without adding much fat as I do. If you tend to gain weight without cardio then do it moderately on your non-workout days. It is someything you have to decide by observing how your body reacts.

Overcourse, everybodys different. I play rugby loads and consider myself to be fit and getting my heart to beat at 190 would be nearly impossible. My heart simply does not need to beat that fast, even when killing myself doing deadlifts or squats

I never do cardio in the winter and eat pretty much what I want and my BF does not get above 12 or 13%.... I think when you cut the cardio it is that much more effective when you add it in. I find that my body responds to it better for fat burning when I add it in after not doing it for an extended period of time. Hell Arnold and the old guys did not ride the bike or walk,,, the just increased their lifting volume, so you can't tell lifting does not have some sort of cardio value.

I can see my abs year round even when bulking to over 250 pounds and eating 6000 calories/day. I never do cardio while bulking because my metabolism is so high but now that I am dieting and doing cardio for competition I have noticed that my heart rate is over 100 even while resting. This can't be healthy. I think I will probably incorporate 20 minutes of cardio 3 times/week while bulking but not on an empty stomach since I'm not doing it to burn fat. - cbeaks
