Elbow Pain

Im just searching for some advice about some elbow pain. Just left elbow. VERY sharp pain right above the elbow whenever I lift anything for triceps, like skullcrushers or closegrip. Is there something I can do to make it heal faster or prevent it from happening again?

First you have to figure out what's going on. I have a feeling you have tendonitis, but without examining you I cannot tell for sure. If it's tendonitis, then NSAID's (ibuprofen, naproxen, or something similar) and rest should help you. I would take it easy for 2 weeks, take some ibuprofen (400 mg with food every 8 hours) provided you aren't allergic or don't have a contraindication (history of GI bleeding, other bleeding, kidney insufficiency/failure, etc.), and if that doesn't help, go see a physician. If you've fallen or suffered some sort of trauma, then you should see a physician earlier to see if you need an x-ray.

Thanks for the info! I have not fallen on it or anything. Just started progressivly hurting worse and worse for about a week and now it will not go away. Been there for about 3 weeks like this. Maybe I will try a heating pad as well.

does sound like some tendonitis. Statdoc's advice is solid. I personally prefer to avoid too much use of NSAID's, but I make sure to take good preventative measures. Warm up and rotate joints prior to workouts, Gluc/Chondr/MSM supplement (I prefer Osteo Bi-Flex), cissus, plenty of good fats from fish, flax, olive, grapeseed oils. I haven't had joint issues in years and I attribute it to this prophylaxis. *knock on wood*

NSAIDS are ok for a short amount of time, but they hinder muscle gains.(they block inflamation, which you want so your muscles break down and then regrow). Take it easy with the amount of weight your using for as long as it takes to stop hurting and gradually add the weight back on to help your tendons grow properly. Don't get anxious and start lifting if it hurts too much. Time is the key here. Drugs are not going to really help much in the long run if thats what your looking for. Any topical analgesic is also a good idea, preferably something with capsasin in it. Thats my 0.02
