Elbow/Forearm pain.

Last year while hoisting some dumbells up to do dumbbell shoulder presses (used my knees to do the initial hoisting) i experienced this pain in my left elbow (top of my forearm actually) the next day. It felt like a sore muscle that never healed from lifting. It obviously hurt from curling straight bars (but not concentration curls). When not in the gym if my arms were hanging down at my side for a few minutes and if i brought my arm up to say scratch my nose, the pain would be very sharp in my elbow/ forearm area. when u press down on the area u cant even feel the pain or make it worse. i had my girlfriend give me a deep muscle massage but it doesnt alleviate the pain at all...its like the pain comes from under the muscle and you can't get at it. i have seen the posts about tendonitis and tennis elbow on the posts so i took a year off from lifting....yes exactly one year...and the pain is still there and was there even on my year off. the gym today made it worse. i should see a doctor but i am afraid he or she is going to tell me i need surgery. i cant stand going to the doctor so thats what i didnt go. is this typical tendonitis or do u guys think i have a tear in ligament or something. thanks and i am looking for a sports doctor in the yellow pages now.

Triceps isolating exercises like Frech Curls, dips and skull crushers; and exercises where your humeroulnar joint (elbow) is loaded (like dumbbell shoulder press), put a lot of strain on the distal biceps tendon. This especially happens if you aren't making sure that you are using proper form, and appropriate weight.

Unfortunately, chronic pain there is typically indicative of serious injury, and it's best to get it checked out so you can get it fixed and start your physical therapy as soon as possible.

It's better to know and get it taken care of then to never know and eventually lose the loss of that arm, if there is a serious injury.

I hope you feel better.
