Djimbe said:Well , I can show you some stuff when/if you come down here , Just Basics and Principles mind you , I dont have any Mats yet (YOWZA the $$$ - theyre going to ahve to come a few at a time , I think) But after understandingthe Physics its really just down to how each individual guy trains , how well and how often .
I mean , even in the Context of MMA ive seen PLENTY of ppl SAY that they were going to take this or that guy down only to get blasted in the face and kiss the mat ! Look at that 11 second KO the other day at the UFC thing !
At any rate look more closely at the Victor Gutierrez clip , he deals with Takedowns and espoecially SIngle/Double legs pretty effectively with his Rollthrough technique !
HOWEVER , any and all of that aside ...
Wich system can your Grandmother use Effectively ? Wich System can be used effectively by the common person ? Saying that this or that Olympic Level Badass or collegiate Champion whositz can do whatever they want to a guy that trains a couple times a week is great . But Im a Self Defense guy . Combat Sports to me are nothing but a fun way to kill time watching two other idiots beat on each other for too little money . Most guys dont even Recoup their Training costs .
And Ill just state flat out that I feel that Muay Thai is FAR Inferior in the Clinch and that Many San SHou fighters ARE Wing Chun ppl .. you have th Clinchwork of WC seriously underestimated , I think . San SHou is a ruleset that all CMA practitioners fight under .
Reakt said:Nice vids, i just watched the first one and i saw some nice muay thai knees and elbows and some nice BJJ positional control and RNC, apart from the bitch slapping, which part is wing chun?
i saw some nice muay thai knees and elbows
and some nice BJJ positional control
and RNC,
please move your gym to pittsburgh so i can train there this summer, thanks!Djimbe said:Oh , and PLEASE tell me the BJJ Name for that Roll Though Shoot defence that theyre doing . Oh , wait , that move isnt IN BJJ ! AND ITS GROUNDFIGHTING *GHASP* !
the only thing i can see that was the same technique as MT would be the way he blocks kicks..... the elbows are definately different and the knees are miles differentReakt said:Nice vids, i just watched the first one and i saw some nice muay thai knees and elbows and some nice BJJ positional control and RNC, apart from the bitch slapping, which part is wing chun?
Djimbe said:Are you really serious ? Or are you actually this Remedial ?
No , you saw some nice WING CHUN Knees and Elbows , thrown out of WING CHUN stancework with WING CHUN Power Generation ,WING CHUN Body Connectivity , WING CHUN Footwork and WING CHUN Followthrough .
Are you telling us that youre seriously so retarded that you think that out of the 5000 years that China has been a Society and that NOT ONE SINGLE CHINESE looked down at his Elbow or Knee and thought of it as a good thing to hit a guy with ? That they NEEDED the THAIS of all ppl to "SHow Them The Trick" ???
Are you KIDDING ME ???
And the fact that you cant see the difference between the way Thai Knees are thrown and the way these are is Pathetic . Im wagering Ive spent more time Training Muay Thai than you (about 4.5 years under various Kru - its just a popular art that I happen to be around a lot) , and Im a Certified Wing Chun Sifu . And I could write a BOOK on the differences in Power Generation between the Elbows , and why "The Five Flying Elbows" as theyre referred to in Cantonese are definately NOT Muay Thai .
Wing Chun is WORLD RENOWNED as "A Close Combat Infighting System" HOW can you have such a thing without Knees and Elbows ? The WC Clinch game is SO much Deeper than Muay Thai's that its Pathetic .
HAHAHAHA ! You Think that "Hit The Guy From On Top !" is some BRILLIANT Idea that ONLY BJJ could come up with ??? ARE YOU SERIOUS ? DUDE , Im laughing do Hard Im crying at this post , you HAVE to be Trolling , God I seriously hope so , this is the funniest thing Ive seen in at LEAST 2 years !
HAHAHAH ! Yes , another thing BJJ Invented , CHOKING ! Wait , let me guess , they invented the Armbar too , right ??? Then go watch "Enter THe Dragon" . Bolo Yeung A TAI CHI MASTER Puts a guy away with one in one of the preleminary Fights . And this was MORE than 2 Decades before "UFC 1"
So , to Recap :
NO Culture Invented Knees
NO Culture Invented Choking
NO Culture invented Elbowing
What the Hell did youy think Chinese Martial Artists fought with , their Butts ?
Im serious , what did you think ?
I give this guy props

Im very open minded and believe every art has an application but after veiwing the videos the wing chun just wouldnt be overly effective against an opponent who has some training, a lot of the stuff seemed to leave wing chun practitioner open to strikes and takedowns i mean a good judo/sambo/bjj practioner would be licking thier chops at the takedown opportunities. Good MT and San-shou guys would also love the clinch opportunities too. That being said it could work IMO but I think other arts are slightly more practical, not better but just more practical, and as we all know the person doing it is a big factor as well.
