ebay: sellers

do you think people make multiple accounts on ebay and when someone bids on their product they use another account to bid higher than yours? In attempt to create a bidding war, so they can try and get you to pay more?

I'm trying to buy several things and it seems i keep getting outbid by members who havent made one transaction so far. I'm thinking it's the sellers alter on ebay driving my bids up.

anyone else think this way?

yep

people also do what is called "snipering", basically they wait for the last few minutes/seconds of the auction to outbid you

I'm sure it happens, although it's against ebay rules. Some "people I know" have had a friend bid on something I...err they were selling to get it up to the reserve price, also probably not cool.

They most certainly do. It's called schilling(sp?) It is also against ebay policy. If you think it is legitimate, file a report.

No sense in bidding on something 5, 7, 10 days out. Wait until the end and snipe it!:D

Gorgeous assvatar.

anytime you bid against someone with zero transactions, stop bidding. You will probably get a second chance offer.

It is a scam and happens all the time.

Sellers (at least many of them), will help each other this way. There're some "possees" out there on Ebay. When I started out on Ebay about 2 years ago, I'd have my GF outbid some folks just to raise the price or because the price wasn't high enough for my taste. Another thing was to put a bunch of items at a minimal price and have someone you'd know buy them all, then collect lots of positive feedback.
