EBay help.

My buddy wants to buy a car on ebay, the auction says that the seller will pay for all shipping expenses and the only cost is that which is shown. Now.. the auctions says it accepts all payment methods, yet the person emailed my friend that she only accepts moneyorder. The seller is also in Germany... were in NY. Does this sound like a scam. And lets say my friend decides to send money order, or even paypal... and the seller doesn't send the car... what happens? does my friend lose his money or whats the deal?

Thanks.

most likely a scam

dont do it

one of the most known scams as a matter of fact

theres a very little chance of it being legit

for something that expensive I would physically exchange money and title at the same time.

selling cars on ebay is not one of the "most known scams around". I don't know where you got that idea.

wizkid, i wrote you back on IT.

BIG chance it's a scam, be VERY careful.

There's at least 3-4 scams making their rounds via ebay, and I believe almost all of them are based in europe.

What is the sellers feedback? How many of their feedback ratings came from the same buyers, and also do those buyers have very little feedback?

Seller's feedback is 100% with over 30 transactions, but they are all buys.. only sold one item, and it was positive.

yes it is, so is fake escrow sites

so be careful

paypal transactions may be tracked down cause they are tight about it, but cashing a money order is lot easier

so think what you want

you think he's going to internationally ship a fucking car for free??? Am I the only one who thinks this is odd??? My best friend just went to buy a bentley overseas b/c he couldn't get the one he wanted here... the cost of xporting it back were close to 10k... I don't see how it oculd get any cheaper than say 2-3 k... the guy wants to take that loss?

this may be fake, but ebaymotors is not as big of a scam as you think. if you have half a brain you won't get screwed buying a car from ebay. plus telling a fake and real escrow site is not that hard.

E-bay has turned into a festering shithole........I have a 523+ positive rating from car transactions.....and asshat scammers are ruining it for everyone.....do not...............I REPEAT......DO NOT.....ever send money via an escrow account.....wire transfer.....or any other non-traced money transaction, including money orders...........also it's not wise to buy a car sight unseen......................people do this with me everyday.....and I can't figure out why..........I'm honest.....and I have taken back three cars......that weren't up to snuff with the buyer after they had been shipped......but I am the exception to the rule. :) :verygood:

I have heard they sell many things on EBAY. Some guy was selling human hands and then he got arrested.

Now. I ask you. WHy gamble with things like EBAY when you can come to a casino and mathmatically calculare your odds of winning versus losing? Big money to be made if you know the wits of it all.

Come visit me at EliteCasinoboards.com. You can access my boards though the main menu. I think it is a few down from this chatandconversation.com board.

VEGAS or HAMMOND?

He's also hacked into someones E-Bay account more than likely.......people find dormant accounts....and list previously run auctions all the time.....it is more common with bikes.......I sold a custom $39,000 motorcycle in December.......and in January someone used the pics from my auction and my description to try and scam someone into bidding/buying and or sending a deposit......I sit on E-Bay all day in my office....as it is 25% of my business...so I caught it.......but E-Bay really won't do shit about it.....the controls for these sort of things just aren't there....... :(

Is that like the EBAY thing I read where some guy sold 1o pictures of a sony playstation, but that is what the people were actually buying a PICTURE and not the PLAYSTATION and 10 games?

That was low. Talk a b out a gamble!

as a matter of fact my last transaction on ebay I almost got scammed by some russian

since I speak russian and it was an obvius scam(well not for an average everyday american, maybe he would of fell for it) anyway I asked him what hes doin in russian

his reply "nothing brother, just trying to make some money"

or those emails you get after you bid on expensive item

"hello, I is got very good o'clock. I will sell you it for 1250 dollars. I will accept only western union or cash"

True

I was hosed for $1535 and EBAY still allows the clown to sell today under a new alias.

No matter how good the deal is, I would avoid buying from overseas. It's hard enough to track down scammers in the States, I cannot imagine trying to find someone and prosecute them overseas.

I wouldn't sweat it. You can always send him negative feed back, and that's like the red karma of E-bay. They're not gonna want that.

This scam is huge right now !They will list Motorcycles or other vehicles for
ridiculous prices. They want you to send half the money first and its always another country.DON'T DO IT!

They hack into accounts for the feedback ..........again i say
"Don't Do It!"

This has happened hundreds of times in the last year.
I would not buy a vehicle with out physically seeing it and then exchange the money.

Every freakin' scam works ultimately the same way:

*YOU* send money first. Then *WAIT* for product to arrive.

Then product *NEVER* arrives.

I never feel sorry for victims. Wah Wah Wah. Most victims are just fucking stupid.

If it sounds like a scam, or feels like a scam -- it IS a scam.

Got someone in Europe? Tell 'em to stop by and look at the car. Got a REAL escrow of your choosing? Use that. Do they have a fax machine? Tell them to fax you their DL and their title/lease on the vehicle.

Do they have a local PD? Call their local precinct and talk to an officer and ask if they could take 5 mins to inspect a car in their community to see if it exists and it belongs to that person. Tell them you're in another country. Most will gladly do what they can to make sure u don't get scammed.

LOTS of options. Most people just are too lazy and rather just send the money, and hope for the best. And then one day they wake up and are out $35,000 -- and of course it's Ebay's fault.

These scamsters take advantage of people's greed. Their desire that maybe, just MAYBE this too good to be true opportunity is legit. 95% of the time. it ISN'T.
