Eating B4 or After Morning Workout

Hi Folks:

I am trying to gain muscle mass and will began working out 4 days per week, alternating upper body and lower body workouts with two days of rest between each body section worked. I'd like to get some advice on when to eat. Should I eat before or after my morning workout?

It seems that when I lift on an empty stomach, I tend to run out of steam in the middle of my workout. But when I eat and then lift, I feel bloated, tired, etc. Same result. .:bawling: So, here are my specific questions:

1. What should I do to obtain enough energy to complete a serious workout.

2. What is the best nutrition schedule to get the most of my workouts (Eat before or after workout? If before, how soon before)?

3. Should I drinking a carb/protien drink pre/during/post workout inplace of (or in addition to) a pre-workout meal? Will this give me all the energy I need?

4. Any other advice you can give that I may not even know enough to ask, please provide.

i have been having a flax/whey/casein shake before workouts and have felt great. No bloat and enough energy to get through my workouts...

Can you post the exact amounts of these ingredients you use in this shake? Also, is it milk or water based?

20g maltodextrin and 20g dextrose w/ 30g protein

there is NO best...but, you should eat before and after the workout...after, have 40g protein, 40g dextrose

just have the two shakes I listed above, it's much easier...then 1 1/2 hr after the PW shake have a meal......PW shake should be taken right after the workout

why wouldnt you have slow releasing carbs like oats and whey instead?
