Early Ketosis Question...?

I know when your body is switching over you sometime feel tired and out of it sometimes, I know this because Ive ran a CKD before.

For the last 3 days Ive had my diet under 20 carbs along with 30-35 mins of cardio and weights. Within the last hour or so, Ive been feeling really out of it, I was planning on going out but now I just feel...I dont know foggy and a little warm. Not sick or fevery, but my face feels warm to me at least. I havent taken Thermorexin since early afternoon...I have no appetite or motivation to get up and go out or nething tonite now.

Think its just my body switching over or does something sound off...Just curious.

Yeah ive had some headaches and all before, but never really felt warm and foggy....maybe its just cuz I upped the cardio this time...I dunno.

Ive ran this diet before...And did fine, lost 22lbs in 2 months...before hurting my shoulder and screwing myself over :-D Its normally just the first 2 or 3 days, it was just worse last night...I feel better this morning.

Ketosis is relatively a very unhealthy way to lose weight. It has a lot of fast gains after you begin to eat like a human again. It also does a very bad job on your liver, kidneys and pancreas(this is b.c you are flushing ketone bodies to make up for the non existent carbs in your diet :) ) Also, once it really hits you, you will have acetone breath which sucks! Overall, it will make you lose a SHIT load of weight. However,to make sure you are actually in ketosis, get some of those ketosis strips(at wal mart or any other store w. a pharmacy)....and check them out to see you are actually in that state.

Ketosis will make your brain cloudy-fuzzy...you will start to feel like a different person and almost unbearable to be around. Some people can do it fine while some cant...and often crash pretty badly. If you are feeling that your work outs are affected by this, then you might consider doing carb cycling instead. It works great....b/c for example say your body is getting 100-150g carbs/day and you do that for one day, then for the next 3-4 days you drop them to like 60-70....your body will think that it is getting 100-150g b/c it takes a while to get used to it. What will happen is that since your body will think you are getting 150, it will use up the 70 that you took in that day and the remaining 80 will get from your fat stores. Am I making sense? Once you start to feel fuzzy-weird and very low on energy, it means that your body figured out that you are no longer getting 150g/day, and it will slow your metabolism down(this is usually the 3rd or 4th day) On the day this happens, you just bump the carbs back up to 100-150 and start the cycle all over again.

This is just in case you are interested. It should help with your low energy and focus on working out. Good luck!!!! And hang in there :qt:

Yeah, I still think it's all mental...:-D

Well, mental may not be a bad way to look at it.

though the body could easily go into ketosis in a matter of a couple of days,
the brain can take 2-3 weeks to adapt to using ketones for fuel.

Yeah guys, Like I said before Im fine, just never felt warm before and I wasnt sure if I was getting sick, because I was sick 2 weeks ago, or if it was just from upping the workouts and dropping the carbs.

Ive been through all of this before, I dont think its an unhealthy way of doing things at all. If done for a short amount of time. Ive never "turned into a different person that was unbearable for people to be around." CKD includes a carb up day, hence the carb loading and depletion part. The breath, get sugar free gum or mints, and brush your teeth and tounge alot. And its only in the first day or 2 that you feel any of those symptoms.

This wasnt exactly a "teach me how to CKD" post...This was just a question, I know all abbout CKD, and I have ran it before...

Exactly, and everyones body adapts differently, the time, and effectivness is all by individual, but Ive never seen anyone who didnt get results.

Dear god yeah, like I have said in a couple posts, me and MR.X worked out my plan a while ago, and I just adjust the numbers as my weight changes. Id die without a clean carb up.

I just started this cycle 4 days ago, hence why I am haveing the first few days symptoms.

ya those first few days really suck badly, to boot i lost my job last night, all i wanted to do was drive into the dairyqueen. But i didn't. I drove to the gym and snapped out 45 mins on the elptical. Today i finally feel decent on this diet (still shitty from loosing my job though).

Yeah, lack of carbs isnt for everyone lol...it can effect you mood, depression is one of them. I go threw small bouts of depression from time to time and its roughto not go eat some "bad" foods. But ive learned lately that its all mental and you can beat anything that you want to, if you want it bad enough.

Again, keto diets are but one of many diets. Many folks, for instance higher carb folks just cannot function on ketogenic diets. This style diet though it does work is NOT FOR EVERYONE.

Knowing what diet "works" for your type is imparitive for the diet to be successful.

If you do a keto style diet, make sure to add fiber to your intake. Not just protein and fats.

i am starting to think the ketonic diet will not work for me...

i may give it a try, but i just can't see myself lasting on it... i'd probably be better suited to the carb cycling approach...

Yeah, my cousin is a trainer and he follows a "zig-zag" diet. It's on and off high carb and low carb days. Either every day you switch or every two days. Its worked for him while bulking or cutting. I hate these low carb things, I wanna kick myself in the ass, but hey, they say the harder it is, the bigger the reward, well damn it, it better be a pretty freakin sweet reward at the end of well, however long it takes me. Its not fun by any stretch of the mind lol

la de da, until your body switches over to a new fuel for energy...Lets not start another debate in a thread that was meant for a quick answer. Ive ran the diet, Im running the diet, and after those first few days, and you start using other sources for energy, you feel like you have more energy than you did before and I feel more focused. Blah, there is really no reason for any more posts in this thread, the issue has ben resolved lol...I dont want a low carb vs whatever, battle in here.

Shut up you muppet! I've ran also and know exactly that yes, you do have more energy. But get it, you brain needs at least 60g of carbs to function properly. FACT! Now crawl back in your hole and keep you pathetic responses to yourself.

Wow does this guy really contribute anything to this thread or is he another antrax invasion type...Ill have to let the mods check this goofball out too. These are exactly the kind of immature responces this borad doesnt need, and that I was obviously trying to avoid by asking that there were no more posts in this thread. If your not going to be respectfull and helpfull to anyone, just dont talk.

Actually the brain can get 75% of its total energy from ketones after a few weeks.

Before this point, gluconeogenesis is increased to provide sufficient glucose to the brain.

Thanks fellas for some usefull information, since just joining this site, I have found that 99% of the people are very helpfull and easy or fun to talk with about issues, then we have like 3-5 people that just waste space :-D

Yeah im making progress and feel fine, although my diet is like 18 pills a day with all the sups Im taking now, and for someone who hates pills it sucks, but besides that Im still feeling good :-)

Well I'll just go over the pills:

T-rex
Lev
Sesapure
Multi Vitamin
Flax Oil
Vitamin C
CLA
Gluc-R on carb ups

I think thats about it for now lol
