E.T. will be back in theatres next week!! You don't understand how excited I am about this!! Being that I'm a youngin I didn't get the chance to see it on the big screen, and now, lucky me!! This is almost as exciting as when "Grease" was in theatres for a short while a few years ago!!

When you watch E.T., notice that every single handgun has been removed from the entire film.

Your government at work.

My 5 year old daughter's gonna love that movie LiLady!!!

Warik - It's quite alright if my daughter isn't exposed to a weapon solely made for killing people in a movie designed for CHILDREN.
If you don't like it, then go watch Natural Born Killers. The government regulated that decision... prove it. I'd say it was Steven Spielberg and the rest of the people that revamped the film.

While it wouldn't bother me because she know's what a gun is... I doubt she'll miss them being in the movie. Personally I could give a rat's ass either.

Weapons aren't solely made for the killing of people, and exposure to weapons is more of a positive thing than a negative thing because it teaches responsibility as opposed to fear. Besides, I don't recall ever seeing a gun actually fired in E.T.

Natural Born Killers sounded like a stupidass movie, which is why I did not see it. I did not say that the government regulated that decision. Let me put it this way since you seem to be very good at reading into other things (i.e. me preferring something like Natural Born Killers), but not into what matters (i.e. my government comment).

Let me put it this way.

If the government didn't strive for political correctness and the disarming the populace, what would motivate parts of the film industry to do so?

Allow me to reiterate - I don't care.

It's Mr. Spielberg's movie (and a really good one) - he can do whatever he wishes with it.

He could replace all handguns with lolipops if he wishes.

I simply think it's a stupid idea - which any rational minded being should as well.

I rented E.T. 2 months ago and it was so boring. Nothing like I remember when I saw it for the first time when I was a kid...

Well I for one am over fucking whelmed.

Warik - Weapons, no are not solely made for killing people. But that's not what I said. I said a weapon. Referring to a 9mm, a 45, whatever they carry in the movie. A pistol of some sort. What is a pistol designed to shoot? Bears?

No, a gun is not fired in E.T. from what I can recall either. However, I did say I could give a rat's ass. When I said this, I was letting you know that I could give two shit's if they carried or fired a pistol or a potato launcher. It wouldn't matter, not because of the violence it promotes, but because it has no bearing whatsoever on the movie. None.

Natural Born Killer's was a fucking badass movie my friend. Definately. You are right when you say that I am good at reading into things, however that is besides the point. That has nothing to do with our conversation. I was explaining that if you feel the need to watch a movie that promotes violence or a weapon used for destruction, watch a different movie. The children won't care about gun's they can't see, nor the gun's they never knew where there in the first place.

Regardless of what anyone in the government said, Spielberg has the final decision. He re-thought the decision he made 20 years ago my friend. He took out a part he wishes he never put in. 20 years ago when he made and released the movie, children didn't shoot other children at school Warik. They do now. Spielberg see's this.

As we've agreed, it really does not matter. Therefore, why put them in a children's movie, if, as you clearly pointed out... they are not used anyway.
