dvd writer

I remember a thread a little while ago about someone shopping for a dvd writer.

I'm in the market for one now, and would like some recommendations. I definetly want +r and -r writing.

Can anyone recommend an online retailer? I'm in Canada so one here would be preferable. However with the stellar US dollar right now, I wouldn't be too hesitant about shopping cross border.

Yep, I posted about this a few weeks ago.

www.tigerdirect.com and www.newegg.com both have good prices, but they sell a lot of OEM hardware, so if you're at all interested in software bundles, look for a boxed product, but you'll pay a bit more.

If you can afford it, go with one that does +/-. I opted to save a bit, and get one that's just +; bought a Memorex 4X for $170.

I bought an external +R writter for $270. I kinda wanted the Sony one that does -R and +R but I could wait anymore to buy one. If you can get an external one. Firewire and even usb 2.0 is gonna transfer faster than an IDE cable.

On a side note Best Buy has TDK 100 pack of DVD +R and -R on sale for $130 this week. Hard to beat that price especially for +R.
