DVD burning problems?

TheProject

New member
I've got a problem.

I bought a DVD burner with the intent of creating DVD's of all our training footage. Only one problem: about one out of every five discs I burn actually works in a DVD player. If I put the disc back in the burner, it'll play fine, but it won't play on *any* home player.

I've tried:

- Burning with different software (Pinnacle, Nero, and Easy CD/DVD Creator

- Double-checking the disc to make sure it's finalized

- Pre-rendering then burning, as well as the other way around

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

suicide.

seriously though - don't a lot of the DVD players say that they won't work with the burnt discs? I thought that was a known issue?

I should add that I don't have a DVD player. but I do have a TV.

Yeah, particularly older ones.

I just bought a Sony carousel that supports DVD +/- R and RW. It plays some of the discs I burn, but not all.

And, here's the other interesting thing: my DVD-ROM won't play 'em either. Just causes Explorer to stop responding.

I have been researching the whole computer video editing to DVD for home DVD playback as well. Pretty damn dicey as you know.

I went so far as to install a 120GB hard drive for such adventures before running into stories of the problems of compatibility between computer burners and home DVD players. The computer DVD burners have got to address these compatibility issues first.

I would recommned sending the computer data back to your DV or digital hi8 camcorder or whatever you use. Then burn it with a DVD-R stand alone burner (like panasonic) if you insist on DVD.

The vast majority of the DVD market is DVD-R but only the players manufactured this year have any real chance of playing DVD-R discs.

Screw it.....copy to tape. That works and that is what I am doing. I toss in a dvd-r, they will probably be able to play it with their next DVD player.

Test boy, I'm aware of the compatibility issues; that's why I bought a +/- home player. IMO, as long as you pay attention to format, you should be fine, compatibility-wise.

And it's not like *all* of them won't play. It's hit or miss.

I've got posts out on some tech boards to try and find an answer to this one.

Soak the dvd-rom in rubbing alcohol, to make sure there's no virii on it before connecting it to your computer.

Sweet - can you post a few questions about lifting weights on there for me?

Ask them how many reps I should do if I just want to get "toned" - and also ask if I can drink milk. I heard you have to shoot it up IV style. With *needles*!!

The hit or miss is pretty scary but I suspect many of the other problems may be that the DVD players were made prior to this year and do not accept burned DVD's.

Elite Fitness, Day 750:

It appears that if I am to be successful in communicating with the members of this "fitness board", I must adopt their language, as all attempts to communicate in English have failed. While I have seen it used, I have yet to attempt it. The language appears to be something of a cross between the sound of chipmunk, interspersed with various grunts and gestures. I shall attempt to communicate with the following:

"Oog eek eek chip chirp gok grok ptui. Pok pok took tok. Unga bunga."

In the meantime, I shall continue to listen to my Cinderella CD's, and hope to be accepted into their culture.

Don't know what you got, 'til it's gone.

I always found that Cinderalla (which I've never noticed the different spelling until now) was a cross between Slaughter and Bon Jovi.

I give that post a 2.5 on the Bullit scale of hilarity.

Sure, pick on my typo.

And is 2.5 a good or bad thing?

LOL - I thought you would likely know more about hair metal than I would - so I went to allmusic.com and typed in "cinderalla" and it came up with "Cinderella" but I just assumed that it was spelled the way the search was (normally their search engine doesn't do well with misspellings).

In the end, the 2.5 was a good thing, 17 is the bad thing.

I think.

Wow, good thing I was doing a search on 'Cinderalla' this morning. This thread and about 9 from HappyScrappy came up in the results.

Whoever said EF has no taste was definatly wrong.
