Did you figure out what happened...oil getting in to the turbines? It was said earlier try mounting the turbo on the other side of the engine next time...but im not familiar with the gti set up...was it on the backside because it was a vr6 i couldnt tell the engine type

Sorta like the RSX set up

I think it might of been just heat build up. He had a camera going before the fire, they were probly on a beat run and the turbo was RED hot an ignited something in that area
