dumb question?

what are zercher squats? never seen them done i guess.

It's front squat where the bar is held in front of you cradled in the crook of your arms. It can be done with a rounded back or with an arched back.

These are the best pics I could find real quick. Someone else might have some links to better ones.

thanks man, that'll help out alot.

these look painful on the arms, but i'm dyin to try em

I hit a PR on them today of 255lbs from the bottom position. (Ass damn near on the floor.) I need to be at least at 315lbs by this August.

I wrap three towels around the bar when I lift. Much easier on the elbows. I will be picking up a 3" tube to put around the bar this weekend.

What is the purpose of this exercise? It looks like a test of pain tolerance :bawling:

It hits your quads more dircectly than high bar or box squats, and is also a good lift for working your back in a rounded position as opposed to arched.

Thanks for the answer, Joker. And I thought front squats were hard...

There are for me. Much harded than Zerchers. I just can't find a good way to hold the damn bar effectively for front sqyuats....
