I'm so excited ;)

lol i used to love the old one, funny as fuck. This one looks very promising

For as many years in the making as it was, I think the genre might be kinda played out now.

Totally agree. Maybe 7 years ago this would work.

IMHO the first duke nukem was the most overrated game ever made. High on shock value at the time and toilet humor but the gameplay was awful compared to doom or even wolfenstein and later quake.

But there's nothing else like it, and that's the hook. Damn near every shooter is a CoD clone these days with no really distinctive personality to the action or gameplay, at least on consoles. Plus PC fans will get some old school nostalgia in the form of a guilty pleasure. Guaranteed DNF will be loaded with Easter Eggs, innovative gameplay sequences and lmfao moments that are severely lacking in other shooters.

The point is not every shooter has to have competition-style gameplay to be fun as hell to play, because (at least in this case) that's where its personality takes over.

REPOST! I preordered the game then in got pushed back a month! Grrrrrrrr!

Ive been playing the regular Duke on Xbox Live with people....Classic Quality gaming!

-Legacy

PS: Crysis 2 and Mortal Kombat are getting all my play right now! lol

crysis 2 and portal 2?
gears of war series ?
bulletstorm?
bioshock series?
dead space series?

Those first two are the only real exceptions in that list imo. Gears and Dead space aren't fps. I actually forgot about Bulletstorm and Bioshock, mainly because to me at least they are both forgettable lol.

what? Bioshock series is really good i think personally, and also critically acclaimed. Both games have scored 9.0+ in most gaming mags or web review.

Bullerstorm was pretty decent too.

Also, you didn't say FPS. You said "shooters".

I guess I implied it based on the Duke thread. I liked Bioshock at first but by the end I just felt like I played a game that was kinda rushing me along gameplay-wise when it should've been making me care about the intricate story they were trying to weave. It kinda felt like it failed as an RPG shooter and action shooter at the same time. Balance and pacing are very important elements in any game's campaign.

Bulletstorm was.....well....it had a cool combo system, but to me personally that's too little meat to get me to bite when it comes to any modern game. I think the last game that really drew me in on a combo system was Killer Instinct. But it also had state of the art graphics and sound, plus cool characters. Bulletstorm.....not so much.

Yea for a game thats been in development for over a decade the first thing I would have expected is the graphics to be totally dialed up

That's part of the problem. The engine has been stretched over the course of a couple+ generations of hardware. Some of the post processing looks pretty good, and it still looks better than RAGE overall, which is sad considering how badass a new id software game usually is.

Good point, but then they should have designed a new engine then. A decade is entirely way too long for a video game to be in the lab without coming out looking absolutely fuckin brilliant
