Dry and cracking hands

anthrax

MVP
EF VIP
My hands are dry with cracks and fissures (>1 mm into the skin) due to the cold and dry air
They've become red (inflamed) in addition to dry and like sand paper (around the metacarpophalangeal/knuckles)

What can I do ?

I have some hydrocortisone cream + an other cream with oxaceprol
Would that help ?

You should try that and then come back here and ask if that didn't help. My hands get dry too but nothing like you just described.

. did a doc prescribe that for you?
?

anyway the more oil a substance has, the more moisture it will lock into your skin. just an FYI if your looking for somethng to make sure the hand stays moistuirised

Put the cream on, than put those cheap magic gloves on. (or any cheap gloves) Leave them on for a while so your hands can absorb all the cream. Try doing this a few times (even put cream/gloves on before bed & sleep like that) This should help, and if it doesn't maybe see a doctor.

Moisturizers help a lot or petrolleum jelly
I'd slap those on as soon as I can see white flakes, those fissures suck

Invest in a humidifier at home too

Invest in a humidifier at home too

It's cold and dry outside
and very dry inside too

I have a thermo-hygrometer which indicates the %humidity

It's so dry in my apartment that it can't measure it :worried:

Yep, definately get a humidifier; they help so much.
Toronto's weather has been crapping up lately, I'm starting to see my skin flake up from dehydration
