Drug test question

So I applied at this company that says part of the hiring process involves a hair follicle drug test. <not sure if that is spelled correctly. I have been shaving my head for 8 years now. So what do they do? Also, I might smoke a little bit maybe twice a year. I think the last time I did, was in June, and that was just a couple hits. I would not even be concerned if it was just a piss test, because I usually drink a couple gallons a water a day anyway. So it would be out of my system. I know the hair test can detect it going farther back,right?

1) They will attempt to collect hair from your legs, arms, chest, underarms, etc.

2) Hair tests *CAN* go back as long as the sample allows, a rule of thumb (not science) is 30 days = 1/2 inch.

3) A standard test will test for the NIDA-5 and they will trim the hair to a maximum length of 1.5 inches.

4) Arm, Leg, underarm hair has a slightly different growth / dormancy cycle. Therefore hair, while it may only be 1/2 to 1 inch in length may be storing the metabolites from a period in your history much longer than 0-90 days ago. Makes sure to exfoliate to get rid of older hairs.

With your June time frame you should be good, bu unlike piss - the amount of water you drink doesn't effect this test. You'd be better off with head hair in this instance, but ur still pretty safe. If you have forearm hair, exfoliate really well and insist they take it from there - it has to be at least 1/2 in. for them to do so. If not move to your arm pits.... same thing... make sure to get rid of dormant hairs.

Ok. I was at a persons house about three weeks ago watching some fights, and some other people were smoking in the same room that I was in. Is there any way just from it being in the air, that it would be detectable in hair? Know what I mean.

Yes, but there are thresholds that would kick out any metabolites that are found due to environmental exposure. So it's detected, but it would be below the NIDA threshold for that drug - as long as you aren't implying you may have puffed the joint.

there are shampoo's/conditioner's that you can buy online to pass hair tests. not cheap though

I doubt their efficacy. I think they're a scam. In fact I subpeona'd the ex's bank records as part of our divorce and she ordered $$228.xx from some online website that sells all kinds of stuff to try to pass drug tests several weeks before her second test - which she failed.

The hair is disolved in chemicals to release the metabolites stored in the cortex and medulla for the test.

Any solvent strong enough to wash that deep would also disolve the hair not to mention it would eat your skin...

You are correct. Those cleanse kits don't do shit. I did some legal work and have seen first hand that they do not work.
