In a urine drug test for steriods do they look for levels, esters, or compounds?

i was wondering the same thing im on probation and my officer is always like man, are you juicing, you look bigger every time you come here. i just go on and on about dieting and eating alot of carbs and lifting heavy. its annoying too cause im only 196. its gettin close to winter so im just gonna start wearing sweat shirts and shit.

Basically if you're going to take a urine test with steroids present in your body, your gunna get hosed.

I did a quick google search with the strings "Urine steroid test"
and it came up with some pretty useful stuff.....

I believe they test for compounds, as a more inexpensive urine test would show creatine levels (which tests just for naturally occurring substances in your body a long with whatever else they throw in to test)

So in all, they'd be testing for the actual properties of AAS in your system, not what your system shows in result of use.
