I want to know who here is into Drag Racing.. and or Muscle Cars. This does not include the hondas with the oriental writing on the side. I am talking about cars that were built in Detroit and run on 8 cylinders and are REAR WHEEL DRIVE!!!!

I am getting a car ready for next season and I would like to know who else shares my intrest.

dballer - I have a brand new silver Pontiac Ram Air. My hubby is getting ready to do some "tricks" to it and I'm going to drag race! I'm so excited about it.
He races in the IHRA circuit. He has a 2001 T/Am that runs in the mid 4s. It's an eye catcher. I don't want to go that fast, though.
I love drag racing!!!

69Muscle... uggghhh..no.

Fitness1.. where do ya'll race? I have a 72 Vega that I plan on putting into the mid to low 6's. I am a regular at Southeatern International in Dallas, GA.. Phenix City.. in Phenix City Al. Brainerd.. on the TN-GA border.

4's is pretty fast.. is the car a super pro car? a pro-mod?

dballer - we plan on racing the schedule in the Drag Review. I think we are going to try to go to Brainerd but am not for sure, yet.

Yes, 4's is pretty fast. It is a pro-mod. I know it has a 632 in it.

Pretty impressive, hugh, that a girl knew that! hehe

Has he raced it in Phenix City?.... that is a FAST track!!! I have watched mid 4 second cars at Dallas run in the high 3's down there!!!!

yes.. that is impressive!! Is it a Big Cheif motor?? Tell your husband to check out www.dragraceresults.com if he has not already.

keep in touch with me and let me know where you all will be racing... maybe we can meet up this season.

He raced in Phenix City in the early '90s. He was like 4th in the world in points when he raced Mustangs. He doesn't race them any more. (This was before I met him.)

It's an Eagle motor. I'll tell him about the site.

Yes, let's stay in touch. That would be cool to run into each other at the races!

Dude... 4's is a six figure timeslip. Compared to the Eagles, Pontiacs and the Big Cheifs.. my motor is as good as a junkyard ride.

Oneday I will bust into the 4's... I saw a kid run a mid 5 last weekend at Phenix City.. on a 10 inch tire!!!! NO NITROUS!!!.. (alot of supercharger) but he drives the car everyday!!!

I would for sure love to run into ya'll this coming season. We will keep in touch, I am sure there will be a race we will both attend.

I have a 2001 Z06, what a beautiful car. Currently shopping for a 1987 Grand National to turn into a strip monster. I hope this will be my spring project! Can't wait to race....:D

I had a '96 Impala SS. It was fun but to many problems. These times are fast are you guys talking about 1/8 or 1/4 mile racing. Also a friend of mine races a mustang in NMRA and runs 8.02 @170 in the 1/4. It's always fun to go to the track especially street night.

I had an 89 GTA Trans am did low 14's and high 13's on drags. Car had basic mods to it like Exhaust-no cat of course, intake, AFPR, i bumped up the timing alittle and did some rigging to the ignition.not msd but used some cheap accell parts. The GTAs were dogs to begin with

I enjoy going to the races. Watching the pro stock and funny cars is a blast.

You need to check out the all Harley drag bikes if you get a chance. Totally awesome.:)

I will be taking my Honda to the strip this year. Not a detriot muclse car but it is back wheel drive.:D Motorcyclist claims a 10.20@ 134.5 time for a stock version. Since this will be my first time to the strip I hope to break into the 12's.

Well tonight I am finishing the front clip for my Pro Stock Vega. I need to get a new pedal cluster and my parachute is kinda old.. so it is time for another one. I am hoping to have mine ready for the spring.

oh yeah.. I like to watch the bikes run.. but you need a set of nuts to drive one of those.. or alot of crack rocks!!!

I've helped a buddy who raced, was good as hell too, won rockingham a few years ago. Drag racing is a lot more complicated than most think. I have also ran my bike down the strip, not a drag bike, but still fun as hell

watch this thread. I got some pictures to post. I will scan them in and post them soon.

I share the interest as well dballer....But alas, I am a die hard Mopar man at heart.

I've been working on my 71 Hemi-Cuda at a friends garage for a few years, as I get the extra cash, I do a little more....each time I do more, I think of more I want....Cars is a never ending hobby...

But lucky for me, I'm pretty close to Carlise Pa. and attend the car show as often as I can....

A muscle car is a wonderful thing to behold indeed....

And there is nothing on earth that compares to the rumble of a 426 Hemi....Gotta luv that!!!

Ranger,
You do have a point... and a good one at that.....

BUT!!!!

I would most likley say that a ZL1 Chevy motor would be about as equal to see or hear run... it is about as hard to find.

Now I got to see a BRAND NEW Hemi tonight out at Barnett Racing here in Atlanta. They have one put together in the showroom... and I must say.. it looks good... real good!!

I was not aware that you had a Hemi car... that is impressive.. if the motoer is apart.. or out of it.. would you be soo kind as to post pictures? I will try to put up some of my rides in the near future.

You know my SS camaro will be ready to go this year!! :) And I am in a new city, so I will get to check out some new competition.

I want to add something great here...but don't know anything about cars. My Craftsman riding mower has like 14 horse power though...

Hopefully by this summer dballer....I am missing the intake right now....You do have to admit, looking down at that engine, with those damn big heads, and the spark plugs jutting out of the valve covers is truly amazing...

I do have pics of my Uncles car...a 69 Shelby GT500....428 Cobra Jet....Red, nice car....

Also, the guy helping me with my Hemi has a 69 1/2 6-Pac Dodge Super Bee.... 5 star rating all the way around, and exactly 11,400 actual miles on it....One of the finest cars I have seen.....

I also like Chevy....I have had several Camaro's over the years....67, 68, and a 69Z....only thing I didn't like about them was how light they were in the rear end, running a 4:11 gear I had a hard time coming off the line whjile playing around.....

I'd like to get another older Chevy and play around with it....easier to get parts, and cheaper than hooking up a Hemi....

Peace,

Ranger

Ranger ask your friend if you can post some pics of his bee,i have only saw one but it is now in bad shape due to someone breaking into the shop where my buddies car was and the super bee happened to be there and they beat it up pretty good

I'll get a pic from him....still Mopar orange with the factory black rims...the only thing not orginal on it is the tires...for those who know Mopar, the red letter tires are a ledgend...<wink>
