I come from the southern coast of ANGOLA
my family was sold to the governer of north carolina(i forget his name) he was a widower and had a daughter... when he died he left the plantation to his daughter who married a man named RICHARD ROBINSON
this guy renamed all the slaves after himself.
after slavery was abolished my family consisting of 13 brothers and sisters. came to baltimore for a lumber mill job and worked that .... most of the ROBINSONS,ROBERSONS,ROBSONS in MD.,VA.,NC. are all from the same plantation.
we were one of the african familys that kept the Robinson name the same and didnt ulter it like the ROBERSONs, ROBSONs.
it was veryimportant in my family to know this... it has been drilled into my head since i was tiny.
