Im tryin to gain mass so I'll be going for heavy sets, right now I dont have a partner to work with and I was wondering if its really really necessary to work with a partner to help u on the heavy sets.

You dont need a partner, you need a spotter. That is, unless you like being crushed by an obscene amount of weight every now and then.:fro:

There is no 'help' on heavy sets except when employing forced reps which most of the best coaches in the world employ only on an infrequent basis (although everyone at the gym uses then on every set - guess the best in the world are way behind the thinking of your average musclehead).

There is a spotter to provide for safety when you may fail on the heaviest of weights (this is what you need).

Failure is not where you lose control of the weight and it crushes you - it occurs when you can no longer complete another rep with proper form (i.e. bar shakes or wiggles or form begins to break down).

Partners are good but the wrong ones are detrimental. You can always find a spotter but tell them not to lay a finger on the bar unless absolutely necessary. It should rarely be necessary unless you are using a forced rep or you miss.

i rather work out by myslef then train with someone who is not a good partner. spotting the right way is not easy and alot of people suck at it, so i hate to ask random people at the gym because i usually just get pissed at them!

A partner would just be the easier choice. A crushed chest could somewhat ruin what would otherwise be a good lift.

On the contrary, a crushed chest would indicate a failed attempt; not a good lift.

Yes (no way to put an accent on it with English keyboard).

and thank you - I thought it pretty funny too.

I lift with out a partner and have benched 330 with out a spot. Just don't try to max out. Also don't use clips on the ends of the bar.
