Does your Doctor know about your AS use?

I'm debating wether or not to tell my doc about my use... For the reason that If I want my blood tested to see if I have anything wrong with me, I need a legitimate excuse (Canada for ya), because she won't just let me do one whenever I so please.

I don't know how well doc's support AS use, I know there are some that try and help you out to keep you healthy, and that's what I want, while others reject it. I can't really say how well my doc will react (it's a chick..) I know I'll get the lecture, but what's done is done, it's what I want to, I just want to be healthy.. and have her support behind me without having her thinking that I'm arrogant telling her she's wrong...

What's the best way to go about this? :)

As of last week he does....got a quad infection so i told him. He pretty much just said "you have to do what have do" and gave me tips so it didn't happen again. No lecture or anything. It worked out ok for me. Now I just have to convince him to write me scripts!

I believe in telling your doctor, because he or she will otherwise be worried or puzzled by your blood test results. My hemoglobin and creatinine levels test high, because of AS and GH, but now she just nods and says, "Oh, that's because of your steroids."

My doc was unfamiliar with the concept of cycling. She thought people stayed on roids permanently (some do, of course) so last blood test I told her I was not on a cycle.

One's health is too important to risk it by getting shy or playing games with your doctor. A physician is likely to be as annoyed by a patient who lies about AS use as they are with patients who lie about whether they smoke or drink.

If you don't give them all the information, they can't give you proper care. That's my 2 cc.:fro:

I agree with ERCOLE....Informing your doctor is important. After my second blood test, my doctor would be looking to put me on some medication as my LDL = 165 HDL = 17, Yes 17. As a result of his knowledge of my AS use, he determined that medication is not necessary, but every 6 weeks I will be in there having him analyze what is going on inside my body. As a professional, he is not concerned with whether or not you use, only how to protect you if something goes wrong. Besides there is always the client/doctor confidentiality.

I wouldn't....could greatly hinder your chances for insurence in the future. guess what, what ever a doc writes down insurence co.'s have access to....Just my .02

exactly. you tell your doc, and the insurance company will know about it. Same thing if you were a drug addict and went to your doc for treatment. he'll put that info into your file and the insurance co will know about it. Fuck no i wouldn't tell him.

No, besides I have only been to the doctor once in the last ten yrs. or so. Also I would never tell him and even if I got an infection or something I'd blame it on B-12.

I can't see my insurance being a problem? I'm in Ontario, so it might be different up here....?

I'm thinking so.

well I don't know about canada but here in the states I wouldn't tell a doctor ANYTHING about A/S unless you were extremly ill because I was in the insurance business and it will come back to bite you insurance companys will try to A/S use for a car accident that might not be your fault or any claim of injury you might have because of someone else where a insurance comp knows they have to pay a claim and they try to degrade you to keep from paying and they will even send investagators to your gym to talk to other people to see if any will talk on you and if you end up with some illness the insurance company might reject your claim saying that steroids caused it and not pay the doc & hospital bills. Bottom line if you tell your doc about them you need your head checked.dont fall for the doc will understand mess not saying that all docs are that way but you will be risking more than you think down the road and you will realize it then that a wise man listens and a dumb one talks to much.just my 0.5 cents sorry it was so long.

no way

I'm sorry bro but I DEFINITELY have to disagree. I had knee surgery in October and was unsure of whether to tell my surgeon about my aas use. So of course I asked my bros on the board their opinion and pretty much unanimously the consensus was to disclose the info. Bad mistake, even when going into surgery. If it was internal surgery I can understand but what I had done wasn't major. Anyhoo to make a long story short people who didn't need to know found out about it and not even from me- they found out from the asshole anestheselogist who was just yakking his mouth. I'm not telling my story again just run a search and I'm sure you'll find it. Don't tell anyone SHIT. BTW everything from my pre-op bloodwork came back excellent, and this is 2 weeks after a dbol/test/eq cycle, which surprised the doc haha. Also Max is right, your insurance will find out about it and might decide you're too much of a risk to carry.

Besides there is always the client/doctor confidentiality.
Don't any of you who are reading this post EVER count on it. Medical records aren't exactly confidential and don't keep an asshole piece of shit moron fuck of a doctor from running their mouth.
Run a search on 'Would this piss you off?' This is my story on patient confidentiality.

see, I'm afraid that if I tell her that the bitch will run and tell my mother. No my mother doesn't run my life, and she is probably aware of what I do, I just don't want to give her anything else to worry about. She has her own medical issues to attend to.

I'm probably gonna find another doctor around here. I want to find a sports medicine doctor if I can in the local area. I'm sure they'll have good knowledge about dealing with people on gear

I always hear, that you're meetings with a doctor are all confidential.. I dont know if this a Canadian issue.. Any Canadian boys out there that can help me here :)

I would not tell your doctor! If you do your insurance company will know about it,and all your medical bills will not be covered.

I told mine

but I couldn't hide it when he did a thyroid/testosterone test. I thought that shit was out of me by the time I took the test but the results came back with testosterone being thru the roof. He said either your injecting testosterone or I need to start looking for a huge tumor. I told him I injected test and he just laughed and told me to drop the dosage if I was going to use it. Cool doc. I trust him. He prescribes me just about whatever I want..(except juice). but he said he would prescribe me HGH.
