does valium interfere with congnitive thinking?

take 10mg 3 x a day. I know that a higher dosage can cause temp. memory loss...any students have any probs studying while on vals?

benzodiazepines and memory

Any benzodiazepine can really interfere with memory. The ones with short acting (more powerful) like midazolam and flunitrazepam(rohypnol) gives more amnesia (lost of recent memory) than the long acting like diazepam(valium). Of couse this aldo depends to the dosage. 10 mg of valium 3 times per day is simply to much to stay alert and definetely affect the memory.

Valium is a central nervous sytem inhibitor and works by increasing GABA activity, which is a CNS inhibitor.

Valium will make you forget you girlfriends name. You should get off of it. If you stay on 30mgs a day for an extended period you will not have an easy time getting off of it. The withdrawal from valium is very, very bad and lasts a long time. Why are you using then in the first place??
