Does soreness = growth?

I've always liked having the sore feeling going for a few days after working out. But if I dont get sore I feel like something isn't right... for instance I had an awesome back workout last week, never got sore from it though.
 
if by soreness, you mean you just got your a55 reamed and by growth you mean huge hemmoroids, then yes....
 
Soreness = tiny tears in the muscle tissue. I don't think it direct equates to growth but I like it when I am somewhat sore after a workout. Most of time if I had no soreness the next day, I was half assed with my workout.
 
i wouldnt say it equals growth, but if you feel sore and werent doing something stupid like going for a 1 rep max while cold, id say it indicates that you worked out hard enough to probably stimulate growth. gotta love these exact sciences :)
 
uh, deadlifts first time ever on tuesday.. its friday and i'm still sore :-/ my whole backs been tense since the workout :-(
 
Soreness != growth

Hard work in the gym + proper diet + proper rest + proper "supplements" = growth

They don't have these in the yuppie gym that I belong to, but when I lived in Phoenix they used to have an "ice bath" in the sauna/jacuzzi area. After an intense leg workout, I'd go immediately to the ice bath to soak my legs. ( FULL ON TURTLE EFFECT) It did well to help with the soreness.

I used to feel soreness in my legs for around 5 - 6 days. Now it's just a kind of stiffness for a day and a half or so.

Oh yeah...everything should hurt after a first time or a return after a lay off. LOL!!

Ache too.
 
My father once got in a big motorcycle accident and got real fucked up and was sore for many years, and he did not get huge
 
I can see this quickly turned into a Clever Contest, but what I was more getting at is wondering if muscle soreness leads to muscle growth - not being the direct cause.
