Does my upper back have to be straight when deadlifting?

I've been doing a lot of deadlifts lately. I've noticed that when I go heavier my upper back tends to round out. I always keep my lower back as straight as possible, but the upper portion rounds out.

Is this dangerous?

I'm assuming you pull conventional. So no there isn't anything terribly wrong with some rounding of the shoulders. If you watch any of the big conventional pullers (Bolton, Magnusson, Konstinovs) you'll see their upper back round a bit. It helps decreas the distance to the bar at the bottom. Just make sure to keep everything tight throughout the pull.
