Does Milk slow down protein digestion???

i was led to believe milk slowsdown protein digestion..so the only time i drink it is with dinner..

i used to drink it everytime i had a protien shake.

when r good times to drink milk..and times not to drink milk

re: milk

Indeed it does...which is why a whey/casein or whey/casein/egg protein is the best choice prior to sleeping. I'd opt for an isolate whey (preferably cfm whey) NOT mixed in milk for your first shake of the day...you want fast digesting protein.

I've also started using water with my shakes rather than milk - not only is casein absorbed more slowly - milk has too many simple carbs for my diet.....just a personal matter really....

I can think of other times that you might want a slower absorption rate though - like when you know that you might have to put off eating for more than two or three hours (horror of horrors!! - but it happens!!).

Really the only time I go for straight whey isolate is right after a workout, or like mickjg mentioned, first thing in the morning....

Does Milk slow down protein digestion???

NO! .. It just adds slower digesting proteins (casien). It doesn't slow the digestion of other proteins, infact milk protein is 20% whey. You shouldn't be afriad to drink milk throught the day, its a great source of protein and the time released nature lets your body keep a steady input of protein after the quicker proteins (whey) get absorbed.

Also it should definatly be used post workout as since whey absorbes in 30min max where the casien will be slowly giving you body protein throught the 2 hour post workout window.

no......fair enough its a slow absorbed protein due to the presence of lactose but, yes, as said b4 there is whey in it(not as much as 20 percent). Personally i think that milk is brilliant. Its an easy protein source and pretty good(i know not everyone agrees with me here). At the moment im goin 4 as much bulk as possible and milk is amazin if you dont care about the carbs.
Stick with milk and grow bro!!!!!!

so.. even post werkout milk is good..
i always though something highly glycomic was best..like gatorade and juices??

so its ok to mix milk with my morning shake?? or before bed???

and another think..i love milk.. i used to drink it with everything i love its taste and how it makes my shakes taste..and recently i cut back on it pretty heaviliy..

i think im gonna have some now....
